Award Winning Soft Chocolate Chip Cookies

Reviewed: May 13, 2010
Fantastic! They stay soft as claimed. I brought almost the full batch to work, and they were gone in less than 4 hours! I had to send the recipe out. I didn't change a thing from the recipe listed; baked them for 10 minutes at 350, and they were prefect. I will absolutely make these again!

Tomato-Curry Lentil Stew

Reviewed: Mar. 2, 2009
Nice stew-y meal, hearty and spicy. I follows others' suit and added some other veggies - I used a frozen mix of stew vegetables (potatoes, celery, carrots) and added them in the last 15 minutes with the curry powder. Delish!

Beer Dip I

Reviewed: Feb. 9, 2009
I enjoyed the dip, but it was more cheese than beer. I used a Newcastle brown ale, and I think next time I'll use something with more kick (a pale perhaps). I took others' suggestions and melted the cheeses to make it creamier - I'm not sure I'd like it the other way.

Spinach Brownies

Reviewed: Feb. 9, 2009
This was wonderful! I didn't have enough mozzarella, so I added some feta. It was so easy to make, and everyone at the party enjoyed it (a friend who is a chef even complimented me on it!). The plate was gone in less than 5 minutes, and people proceeded to pick at the bits in the pan :) I will definitely make this again, maybe with some mushrooms or red peppers added in...

Raspberry and Almond Shortbread Thumbprints

Reviewed: Aug. 9, 2008
Delicious and easy - I love recipes with so few ingredients. I couldn't get the drizzle to, well, drizzle, so I left a few without - they were equally good either way. I did the first batch according to recipe, and the second batch I added some more flour like others suggested and it worked a little better.

Spinach and Orzo Salad

Reviewed: Jul. 4, 2008
I thought this turned out pretty good! I added sun-dried tomatoes and toasted the pinenuts as some others had suggested. I will definitely cut back on the dressing next time though - probably half the dosage would have been sufficient. I will definitely make this again - it's a good potluck salad!

Parmesan Artichoke Casserole

Reviewed: Dec. 27, 2007
It was okay - probably better if you're a huge artichoke fan. I cut back on the cheese, and it was still pretty gooey. The garlic powder made a nice addition.

Fudge

Reviewed: Dec. 27, 2007
Super rich and chocolaty I added almonds and marshmallow to make Rocky Road fudge (husband's request), and it turned out really good.

Caramel Shortbread Squares

Reviewed: Dec. 27, 2007
Really good, decadent recipe. I may have overcooked the caramel layer a bit, since it was hard as a rock (normal?), but it still tasted good. Although delicious, I probably won't make it again - it's a bit too much for the tastes of my family.

Mom's Best Peanut Brittle

Reviewed: Dec. 19, 2007
Pretty good - all batches I've made have turned out right (that is, not to runny or anything). The first batch wasn't peanuty enough for me, so I added more. Also, I found the best flavor was obtained when I used Spanish peanuts instead of the regular ones.

BUSH'S® Black Bean and Cheese Lettuce Wraps

Reviewed: Dec. 12, 2007
Really good! Like everyone else, I adjusted the proportions to taste - 1 can beans, 1 1/2 cups rice, 1/4 cup dressing, and only about an ounce of feta. I didn't have any chives, so I'll have to try those next time. I think I'll be using lettuce wraps instead of tortillas from now on!

Green Beans Amandine

Reviewed: Nov. 23, 2007
This was pretty good - maybe a bit buttery for my liking, but the combination of green beans and the crunch of the almonds was nice.

Beer Bread I

Reviewed: Nov. 23, 2007
This recipe was definitely easy, although it tasted pretty doughy. I tried it with a Newcastle Brown ale, and I think the English-style may have been the wrong beer style for this bread. I'll be trying it again with other styles (a Bavarian wheat, or a smoked porter maybe?) and see how it works out.

Sweet Potato Potato Salad

Reviewed: Nov. 20, 2007
The sweet potatoes were barely noticeable in this recipe - they just blended in like everything else. I also added in some bits of red pepper, and that added a nice kick to the basic potato salad.

Black Bean Pizza

Reviewed: Oct. 29, 2007
It was okay... but then I didn't have any garlic or canned tomatoes, so I used a bit of salsa instead! :) I actually liked this better the day after - I bypassed the pizza part and just heated up the bean mixture. It was almost like a casserole.

Spinach and Strawberry Salad

Reviewed: Sep. 27, 2007
Yum! Light and refreshing! Great salad to bring to work - toss it up and eat. I agree with some other posters - I might cut down the sugar and the seseme seeds next time. I used some mixed greens instead of plain spinach, and added some toasted pine nuts, too, since I will use any excuse to use those in a salad. Thanks for the recipe!

The Best Veggie Sandwich

Reviewed: Sep. 27, 2007
I loved this! I added a little too much ranch dressing though, so they were pretty gooey, and I think I should've added more sprouts. I did some substitutions - whole wheat english muffins, zesty guacamole instead of basic avacado, and I did a mixture of fat-free cheeses (cheddar and mozzarella) mixed with just a little smoked cheddar for the melty factor. I added some turkey slices on half of them for my non-veggie husband to try - he seemed to approve. I will definitely make these again - maybe to bring to work and zap in the micro to melt the cheese...
