Banana Sour Cream Bread

Reviewed: Nov. 21, 2007
This is about as awesome as it gets. The wife hates nuts so since this recipe yields us two nice size loaves ( 2 9x5 loaf pans ) one is without nuts and still is awesome. I am always being asked by others for the recipe. Thanks for the hit!!!!!

Country Apple Dumplings

Reviewed: Oct. 5, 2009
Made two batches, first was the normal way which from friends reactions was awesome, then another using splenda, diet dew and promise, low-fat crescent rolls with using pam to grease the pan and it also was really really good and about 1/4th the calories and fat. We'll make again as was really easy to do, Only suggestion I can make to add is use smaller apples as the larger wedges will not be completely covered by the dough when rolling up but for us that was just fine.

Julia's Easy Slow Cooker Chicken

Reviewed: Feb. 1, 2004
Good stuff. I do the cooking at home and the wife loved it. I did use Cream of chicken instead of the mushroom, but overall will make again. Thanks, Phil

Pork Chops with Blue Cheese Gravy

Reviewed: Jan. 12, 2010
Recipe was good. I did not have a meat thermometer so I was leary about cooking pork and ended up over cooking. Its not the recipe's fault so I still gave it 4 starts. I rarely give 5. Kids enjoyed this so I will make again.

Japanese Chicken Wings

Reviewed: Apr. 15, 2010
Not bad, I made this a few times until it was just right. As is, here are a couple gotchas. If you use egg and flour in the skillet with the cup of butter, make sure butter is hot!!!!! otherwise the wings will clump and make scrambled egg and flour mess in the pot. Your almost better off using deep-fryer for a couple minutes for browning. I have read others mention to broil instead of fry, I will try that next time too. Another item which we preferred was pick up some rice flour ( maybe a buck for 3 pounds ) instead of all-purpose flour. it is much lighter and adheres better to the wings unless you have a few hours to chill in fridge before browning. Now for the sauce. add a shot of amaretto and some ground ginger to the soy and vinegar combo. gives it that much needed asian flavor boost. other than that, this is pretty easy and good. no blue-cheese needed. Oh and it will work fine with a cup of splenda instead of sugar. a cup of sugar in a wing recipe is a bit excessive. I can see a cup in a cheesecake recipe but not for an appetizer. the butter alone will do enough damage.

Award Winning Soft Chocolate Chip Cookies

Reviewed: Mar. 26, 2009
This was a decent recipe. I have yet to find one that can make my hommeade cookies along the lines of an otis Spunkmeier quality but I think I am getting closer. The kids loived helping out too. Give them each an ice cream scooper and they love adding to the cookie trays.

Slow Cooked Corned Beef for Sandwiches

Reviewed: Mar. 26, 2009
well I gave this a shot. In the end it was still pretty good. I beleive it has excelelnt potential and more likely than not, it was my cooking of it that made it seem not as good as expected. First off I read through the first 40 or so reviews to get ideas and tips from others also for those additions to enhance which are not part of the original recipe. I ended up using a 5-quart oval shaped slow cooker. Now always with a slow cooker I have the dilemma of how much liquid to add. I spoke to a local butcher and he said since it would not be boiled in a pot first there was no need to submerge it under liquid, however there should be some in the slow cooker nonetheless. I did by two briskits and only used one to try receipe out. Added one 12 OZ bottle of guiness and a little water and it still covered the briskit. also added included spice packet, half a bulb of cleaned and peeled garlic and half the peppercorons. it still tasted prety good but I wish i owned a deli style slicer as that would have made it perfect instead of a roast beef style carving of the meat.

Beer Batter Fish Made Great

Reviewed: May 29, 2009
This would have been pretty good but I used a bottle of Guiness from a friend's advice. too dark and beer tasting for my family's liking. Oh well I will rate again after trying with a different beer.
