Delicious Chickpea Curry

Reviewed: Oct. 14, 2007
Very flavorful. Sweet, but not too sweet. The combination of spices and flavors was new and interesting. It was a little on the hot side which I like, but if you don't, you might want to use less ceyenne pepper. Relative to other middle eastern/indian dishes it was fairly easy to make. Definitely a keeper!

Addictive Sweet Potato Burritos

Reviewed: Oct. 30, 2007
Nice contrast of flavors and not too much hassle to make. Being a beginner I followed the recipe (except for using black beans). I found the burritos a little bland, but with sour cream and salsa they tasted great. Next time I will likely add more spice during the prep. The great thing about this recipe is that you can freeze the burritos and pop them in the oven for weeks. They taste just as good after freezing.

Caramelized Green Beans with Walnuts

Definitely too sweet. If I make it again, I would reduce the sugar by half.

Pineapple Stuffing

Reviewed: Jan. 5, 2008
This tastes really good, just like pineapple upside down cake. It is more of a dessert than a side dish. If you plan to make it as a side dish with ham, I would suggest reducing the sugar by half.

Homestyle Turkey, the Michigander Way

Reviewed: Jan. 5, 2008
I followed the instructions exactly. I feel all the water made the turkey taste almost boiled. It was juicy and the meat just fell off the bones, but not much flavor.

Downeast Maine Pumpkin Bread

Reviewed: Jan. 5, 2008
Awesome recipe! It is easy to make and tastes fantastic. You could very the amount of spice to your taste. The recipe produces a fairly even flavor, not spicy or bland. If you want a heartier flavor, I suggest adding 50% extra of the spices.

Mexican Pasta

Reviewed: Jan. 5, 2008
This is a very simple everyday recipe. It is really easy to vary the ingredients to your taste. You can also vary the flavor completely by using different types of salsa. I used mango salsa which turned out great.

Easy Mashed Potato and Roasted Vegetable Enchiladas

Reviewed: Jan. 5, 2008
It has a good flavor, but way too much mashed potato. If I make it again, I will significantly reduce the amount of mashed potato.

Red Lentil Curry

Reviewed: Jan. 5, 2008
An above average lentil curry recipe. Works well as one of a selection of dishes, but not by itself. Really good with plain yogurt on top.

Catherine's Spicy Chicken Soup

Reviewed: Jan. 5, 2008
I followed the recipe as it is and it turned out fantastic. I couldn't stop eating it. Its more like a chicken chili than a soup. It is thick and has a very hearty chili flavor. If you want it more soup like, I suggest using about 1/2 the chicken suggested.

Light and Fluffy Spinach Quiche

Reviewed: Jan. 13, 2008
Wow. The best quiche ever. Very simple too. I substituted some feta cheese for part of the cheddar and it added some extra zing. I will definitely make this one again.

Sean's Falafel and Cucumber Sauce

Pretty good. I fried some and baked some. The fried ones turned out quite greesy, but the baked ones were great.

Greek Chicken Pasta

Reviewed: Jan. 19, 2008
Very bland. I probably won't make it again, but if I did, I would use a lot less pasta and a lot more spice.

Curried Cauliflower

Reviewed: Apr. 6, 2008
This recipe is quite tasty and really simple to make. I used part cauliflower and part broccoli and it turned out great. I think I'll add a little cayenne pepper next time to give it a bit more zip.

Indian Chicken Curry II

I made the recipe as written and found it kind of bland. I would take the suggestions of several others and add more curry powder and possibly more pepper as well.

Spinach Chickpea Curry

Reviewed: Apr. 6, 2008
I did not find this to be a vary useful recipe. The flavor comes from the curry paste, so is completely dependent on which one you buy. I didn't care much for the flavor of the curry paste I bought, so didn't care much for how it turned out.

Guaco-Tacos

Very fresh and light, yet tasty. Very easy to make. Once you make the salsa and guacamole, which itself is quick, it just takes a couple of minutes to combine the ingredients. So it makes a simple quick meal for days.
