Raspberry Walnut Baked Brie

Reviewed: Oct. 25, 2010
I made this for a baby shower and it was SUCH a hit, it was the first platter emptied! I wanted it to be a bit more savory so I added 2 Tbls Balsamic Vinegar to the raspberry preserves and it was such a great little variation! Everyone there wanted the recipe and were shocked when I told them how easy it was. Try it with the vinegar, it's SO good!

Caramel Apple Dip

Reviewed: Nov. 2, 2008
Made for a Halloween party and was eaten up so quick I ended up making three batches! People were dipping pears, apples, even their fingers (onto their plates, not the serving bowl!!) into this luscious treat. I did add more caramels per other reviews, and it made it perfectly sweet and creamy. Today my husband and I are finishing off the leftovers...though that's only because I saved us some before it hit the appetizer table! The perfect fall dip!

Rumaki

Reviewed: Nov. 2, 2008
My mom came up with an updated version of this traditional dish that is much more of a crowd pleaser. Even the picky eaters love it, and it's constantly requested. You marinate water chestnuts in the terriyaki-type sauce, then wrap in bacon and skewer with toothpicks to hold. Let the little bundles soak in the sauce for one hour, then bake slowly on a foil-covered broiler pan or cookie rack till the bacon is cooked through (about 45 min at 350). Broil carefully for 5 minutes to caramelize, and serve warm. These are the most requested dish she makes, and please many more people than the traditional version.

Joelle's Famous Hot Crab and Artichoke Dip

Reviewed: Nov. 2, 2008
Made this for a Halloween party, and while tasty, it didn't look all that appealing in the casserole dish. I would definitely go for the bread bowl next time. Was worried the bread bowl would not keep it hot, but it actually tasted fine at room temp. Also the bread will help to keep any extra liquid from puddling-Maybe I didn't drain my crab or artichokes well enough.

Frosted Pumpkin Cookies

Reviewed: Nov. 2, 2008
This frosting is amazing! I made another pumpkin cookie recipe from this site (a mistake...not enough flavor or spice!) and I put this frosting on top when I realized they needed more flavor. It did the trick perfectly and the guests raved! a few even dipped the apple slices into the frosting bowl because it was so good! I will try this cookie recipe next time.

Bacon Wrapped Smokies

Reviewed: Nov. 2, 2008
These were the first things gone at my party--they hold up well and are still good at room temp. My crock pot had cider in it but the baking dish kept these plenty warm. I marinated the smokies in the brown sugar (with a little squirt of mustard--great with sausages!) and then wrapped them, topping with another 1/3 cup brown sugar. The sauce was so good people were dipping apples into it after the smokies were gone! I didn't even get to try them they were gone so fast (except for a couple "test bites" eaten in the kitchen!)!
