Banana Chocolate Chip Cookies

Reviewed: Oct. 9, 2010
Very Yummy. The only changes I made was to substitute the sugar with Splenda, put carob chips instead of chocolate chips, and I halved the baking powder to 1 teaspoon. They are still coming out of the oven, batch after batch, and my 5 year old son is eating them up! He's had 2 so far, and loves them. These are nice puffy cookies that would be GREAT with a cuppa tea. I will be using semi sweet chocolate chips next time I make these because I love the two flavours together and carob just doesn't do it for me. ;) I was trying to be healthy about baking. Is there such thing really? hahaha! Thank you for sharing a great recipe!

Conchas (Mexican Sweet Bread)

Reviewed: Nov. 1, 2009
oh my what a recipe! The conchas were so good!! I followed everything exactly and although it didn't rise they turned out so great and tastey. Better than the local panaderia only a bit smaller. I'm still not sure why they didn't rise both times but when it tastes this good I won't question it! Thank you so much for sharing this. I'll never buy stale pan de dulce again ;)

Slow Cooker Honey Garlic Chicken

Reviewed: Oct. 28, 2009
I couldn't get the sauce to thicken but the flavour was really good. I was craving more of a sticky thick honey garlic sauce but I will make this again since it tasted so good. I served it with rice and sauteed bean sprouts, broccoli, carrots, cauliflower, and a corn starch, ground ginger, chicken stock sauce coating :D I think next time I will take the sauce and pan fry it to thicken it up and see if that makes it just right. I did not put pineapple anything in it and probably won't because I feared it would make it too much like sweet and sour sauce. Thank you for posting a yummy SLOW COOKER recipe! No can soups. haha!

Honey Mustard Salad Dressing

Reviewed: Sep. 1, 2009
I normally don't like to review recipes if I am not able to do it EXACTLY as written but this created something so delicious I had to say something and thank you! I didn't have onion and I used dried parsley. I followed all measurements perfectly but used a mixture of balsamic and apple cider vinegar. The only oil I use on my salads is EVOO so that was used in place of veg. oil. The only mustard I had was spicy brown. haha So its the right ingredients just different types of what you use! I LOVE it!! I read that others found it too thin but thats how I like dressings to be. I don't like thick, fatty, overly saturated salads. This is perfect to pour over a large salad and just toss and serve. Mmmm It all fit perfectly into my 16 oz salad dressing bottle I had with just enough left over to make a salad right away ;) Thank you.. great recipe!

Chicken and Red Wine Sauce

Reviewed: Aug. 10, 2009
for lack of a better word, Mmmmmmmm! I tossed everything (with chicken split breasts) into a slow cooker with a little extra wine (I topped up my 1 Cup measuring cup) So goood! :) thank you for the recipe! I got to enjoy delicious chicken and it gave me a reason to open a bottle of red I had. Delightful. *update* I made it again tonight as the recipe directed exactly and it was even better than I remember! So sooo GOOD! I love it and will be making this again and again

Magic Peanut Butter Middles

Reviewed: Jul. 13, 2009
These were so good and let me start by saying I will not rate or critique anyones recipe without first doing it as instructed (NO CHANGES) I wouldn't change a thing. I see lots of reviewers said they were dry and I find that a common complaint. They key to avoid dry cakes and cookies is to really cream the butter and sugar quite a bit. Make it super light and fluffy before adding the egg and vanilla and then spoon in the dry ingredients slowly. I guarantee it will make them moist ;) I had two trays full and cooked the first one for 9 mins since I had more on that tray and the second batch only needed 7. *Be careful not to over bake to avoid dry cookies as well.* This had more steps than simple cookie recipes but I found it quite simple and enjoyable to make even with my impatient 3 year old demanding cookies every 5 seconds. I will upload pictures soon! Im just sitting down to enjoy another cookie and type up this review. I made a few with chocolate disks in the center instead of sugar and pressing just because i was curious.. you could put anything on top and it would be great! Thanks so much for this recipe. Clean up was so easy with my peanut butter loving son around to lick everything clean. hahaha!

Surprise Banana Cake

Reviewed: Jun. 20, 2009
This was so good! Everyone knows the key to a moist cake is to really cream that butter well, then add the ingredients one at a time with all the dry ingredients sifted together and added slowly. I added cinnamon, cocoa powder and an extra banana! I love it and will make it again and again

Chicken and Pasta in a Mango Cream Sauce

Reviewed: Jan. 18, 2009
This was soooo so good! I love it and will make it again. I followed the recipe and didn't change a thing except for adding more chicken and pasta. The sauce still coated everything perfectly instead of having a sauce drizzling over the food. I love it and have sent the recipe to EVERYONE I know :) Thank you for posting this delicious creation!!

Broccoli Beef II

Reviewed: Jan. 15, 2009
So bland. I would marinade longer or something. I didnt like it at all, it just had no flavour and the "sauce" was soupy and watery :( If this is what take out is like then I'll stick to my kung pao chicken. I followed the recipe exactly as it says.

Best Brownies

Reviewed: Dec. 7, 2008
Oh my goodness these are GOOD! I am a major chocoholic and was dying for some brownies. Im eating them now hot out of the oven and am in heaven!!! Thank you thank you for posting a true brownie recipe. NOT CAKEY because I mixed everything by hand and not too much. Don't let the air get in if you cant stand light fluffy brownies. These are so moist and chocolatey. Im drooling trying to type this. I doubled the recipe but forgot to double the baking powder (most reviewers say not to add it at all in most brownie recipes I saw)I didnt double the salt either (you wouldnt want to do that) What else can I say? These are the perfect brownies. Great name for this recipe. PS I DIDNT MAKE THE FROSTING>> DONT HAVE TO! They are so sweet and delicious as is. Maybe one day when I have confectioners sugar I'll try it to compare but I am one happy lady right now and needed this comfort chocolate tonight :)

Easy Chocolate Cake

Reviewed: Oct. 26, 2008
OK.. Ive made this again and obviously did something horribly wrong last time! This cake is great BUT how do you make the icing?? I've been stirring endlessly for too long and gave up on it... I have a soupy liquid in the saucepan. Nothing thickened to a paste in any way. Does anyone have any tips of what I can do to save it?? I cut my cake expecting to have frosting for it so not having icing sorta ruins the good cake! :(

Mexican Tinga

Reviewed: Aug. 21, 2008
Loved it! It was perfect and delicioso :) First time I made it as is.. second time I made it with beef and processed the grilled onions with the tomatoes and chipotle peppers because my husband hates onions. Both were excellent and he loved the beef one better. I thought they were both fabulous. I'll be making this again and again!

Absolutely delicious!! I loved it. I put in fresh garlic over the powder (2cloves) and didnt have any green peppers but I cant wait to try it with them in. It was so easy, super flavourful, and used pretty basic ingredients we normally have on hand. Thank you for sharing this recipe. I was very pleased :) I'll definitely make this again.. soon! *I've submitted a photograph too*

Best Marinara Sauce Yet

Reviewed: Jul. 28, 2008
very yummy! I added fresh basil since I have it growing and some brown sugar as I do to any tomato sauces and I actually used RED WINE instead of white because red is all I ever have on hand. I think I put more onion than the recipe calls for and minced garlic too. (I didnt have parsley so that was skipped as well) It was so good, I cant wait to make this again. The left overs were even great spooned over toast and eaten up with a knife and fork! The flavours go through even more the next day. I can't tell you how good this is... I hope someone reading this tries it!!
