Bread Machine Pumpernickel Bread

Reviewed: Nov. 19, 2007
My husband and I really enjoy the taste of this bread. We're going to make this one day with our Reubens. Hmmmm! That should be really good. Thanks for a great tasting and different bread for my bread machine.

Cranberry Wheat Bread

Reviewed: Nov. 16, 2007
I thought this bread would be so good, esp. as I love cranberries. I couldn't have been more wrong. My breadmaker doesn't have a Sweet Bread setting, but does have a Fruit/Nut setting. That is what I used, and it came out underbaked--had to finish it in the oven. The taste is not in the least remarkable. Like Liv-Pup said, "doughy". I think if I were to make it again, I would use the normal setting of my breadmaker. The difference between the two is a matter of degrees, but enough to make a difference in this recipe. Will not try again.

Carrots with Dried Cherries

Reviewed: Nov. 15, 2007
Normally I don't like carrots, in any form, and my husband only likes them raw. Not cooked. So we very rarely have carrots in the house, because he is the only one who eats them. That is changing with this recipe. I am eating these as I write this--I might have to make a second batch for him when he gets home. Thanks for a great recipe!! I made it like written, came out great. I forgot, I subbed cranberries as I did not have cherries.

Veggie Stir-Fry

Reviewed: Nov. 15, 2007
This was very good. It was filling, unlike normal Chinese food. I would like it a bit spicier, otherwise excellent recipe that can adapt to any veggies.

Cranberry Bars

Reviewed: Nov. 14, 2007
This is great!! Ease of preparation, smell, and I can only imagine the taste. Looking forward to that though. A quick note here--the recipe calls for 3/4 C. of butter, melted. Make sure that you measure 1 1/2 sticks of butter. 1 stick of butter is 1/2 C., then from your second stick of butter, you need 1/4 of it. That equals 3/4 C. of butter, melted. If you actually do 3/4 C. of melted butter, your dough will not hold together. Let you know after I have some.

Skillet Cookies I

Reviewed: Nov. 13, 2007
Oh my!! These are really good! My only change was instead of rolling them in powdered sugar, which I am out of, I rolled them in finely ground coconut. It reduces the sweetness-you might want to try it with coconut. I love these and I know my husband, who can't stand coconut, will enjoy them also. Thanks Barbara, for the good recipe.

Candy Coated Pecans

Reviewed: Nov. 13, 2007
These are really really good! They came out great! I added 1/2 tsp. of Cinnamon, and 1 tsp. of vanilla, 2 egg whites, and 1 C. of brown sugar. Kept the amt. of pecans the same. Thanks to CSG, I too am going to make the Pear and Blue Cheese Salad Recipe on this site and these are a part of it. Looking forward to it. Oh so very tasty!

Pears Panos

Reviewed: Nov. 10, 2007
These were the perfect ending to our meal tonight! The recipe was just right. To top them, I whipped some cream. We don't have any liquer in our house at all, so I did what another reviewer did-left it out. Thanks for the good recipe.

Forgotten Party Cookies

Reviewed: Nov. 9, 2007
These are good. I am going to make again and this time I will use my stand mixer, I didn't use it the first time. I used a hand mixer, they came out good, but, I'm sure they will come out very high with a stand mixer. My hand got tired of mixing last night, so I shortened the time some. Sweet, but not the type that hurts your teeth. Make these at the end of your cooking day-then just forget them and watch TV or something else.

Apees

Reviewed: Nov. 8, 2007
This recipe caught my attention because it was so different. The taste makes it a keeper! It was quick to make, and while the taste is not your typical cookie taste-it's different and I think better. Wish I could describe the taste for you, but, I think this is one cookie recipe that if you think it sounds good, you should follow your hunch and give it a try. Enjoy.

Vinegar Cookies

Reviewed: Nov. 7, 2007
Well, much to my disappointment I give these cookies one star. I followed the recipe and they came out flat and not at all tasty. They are edible, just not light, tasty, and delish. Our weather today has been wet, maybe the humidity affected the outcome of the recipe. I love the idea behind the recipe and I truly am disappointed. I don't feel like wasting my money and time on a recipe that doesn't work. Will not make again.

Hearty Harvest and Ham Stew

Reviewed: Nov. 5, 2007
We thought it was going to be bland, turned out we wrong. It is not spicy, but, very, very tasty. We really enjoyed it. Serve with a Rye bread for a filling meal. The ham I used was Black Forest-organic. The ham is a big part of this dish. Get the best quality ham you can, you won't regret it. The salt I added was 1/2 tsp. and ground up a bunch of black pepper. It wasn't salty, which I thought it was going to be. All around great recipe-Thanks

Cranberry Raspberry Sauce

Reviewed: Nov. 5, 2007
This is a good sauce for Day After Sandwiches, pork and probably chicken. My only tip is that you don't need to worry about mashing the cranberries, they do that all by themselves. As they simmer, they pop. The dish comes out a gorgeous color. If you want color at your Holiday table, this dish will provide that!

Hot Jam Breakfast Sandwiches

Reviewed: Nov. 3, 2007
I really enjoyed this recipe. Quick to make, and great taste. You don't need to put alot of the jam mixture on the bread. It is best with Raisin bread, but, I'm sure it would be good with white or wheat. Try it--you'll like it.

Hot Mocha Drink Mix

Oh so good! Thanks for the recipe Rebecca. I don't drink coffee, so I really like having something else besides tea and hot cocoa. Followed recipe like stated with the exception of increasing the coffee slightly.

Grilled Salmon Sandwiches

Reviewed: Nov. 2, 2007
These were tasty. Our only problem with them is that when you dip in the milk/egg mix. they are difficult to put in the frypan fast enough. Ours drooped. But, they were really good. We thought about it, and we think we have a solution. Next time, we are going to build our sandwich in the pan. First, dip bread in milk/egg mix., put into pan. Secondly, put salmon mix onto bread. Thirdly, dip second slice of bread into mix and put on top. We think that will make better sandwiches. Will let you know.
