Old Fashioned Rice Pudding

Reviewed: Feb. 26, 2010
I thought this was very good. Will make again. The only thing I did different because I had to was subbing dried sour cherries and almond extract for the raisins and vanilla. Came out even better tasting than the typical raisins/vanilla. Will make it that way from now on. Thanks. I am looking forward to enjoying this all on my own. No hubby.

Rice Pudding in a Slow Cooker

Reviewed: Feb. 20, 2010
This was not worth the time or effort to make it. Nothing special. I make Slow Cooker Tapioca from this site and it is still the best pudding ever.

Pumpkin Oatmeal

Reviewed: Feb. 17, 2010
This is simply great! I got a can of canned pumpkin from my food bank and didn't know what to do with it, outside of the typical stuff. I also didn't want to buy anything extra just to use this up and I didn't! The only suggestion my husband could come up with was add some salt. I wasn't able to buy vanilla silk, but I plan to do so soon. Thanks for a great new way to make oatmeal.

Homemade Pancake Mix

Reviewed: Feb. 16, 2010
A great pancake mix. Make extra to keep on hand! Then just add wet ingredients. I took the advice of some other reviewers and added 1 tsp. salt to the dry mix, added 2 T. of flax meal to the batch I was making and also added 1 tsp. vanilla. For the first batch, do monitor the heat. If you don't they will stick. After the first ones are done, you should be fine. I used a cast iron skillet.

Very Simple Spelt Bread

Reviewed: Feb. 13, 2010
This is so good! Did not change anything. Nothing needed changing! I always put something on the top after baking is done, but somehow melted butter didn't seem the right thing to put on top. After reading the reviews, I mixed some butter and honey both at room temp, and put on top. Then sliced while still warm and put more butter/honey mix on the slice. MMMMM I love how quick, tasty and simple this is. Thanks.

Cornmeal Cookies II

Reviewed: Feb. 11, 2010
These cookies are good: I didn't change or add anything. Where the recipe calls for butter flavor extract, I just used the same amount of butter. I didn't have any butter extract. Be sure after everything is added that you mix from the bottom of the bowl up. I used my hands to be sure that all the cornmeal was mixed in equally. The time to bake these was not mentioned so, I used a stopwatch and did 2 batches of them at 14 min., and the final batch at 13 min. Both batches came out great. I wouldn't bake them any longer than 14 min. These are also good dipped in milk after they have cooled.

Baked French Toast

Reviewed: Feb. 6, 2010
I have made/reviewed many recipes on this site and this recipe is by far the worst one! It tastes okay, nothing like the French toast taste that I was expecting. I will never make this recipe again. I am still looking for a simple and basic French Toast recipe.

Roasted Veggies with Couscous

Reviewed: Feb. 5, 2010
This is very good! I don't have any fresh veggies, so I used a can of canned roasted tomatoes with peppers and some fresh garlic and onion. Sauteed the garlic and onion, afterwords I added the canned tomatoes. My hubby is now grating fresh Parmesan on it. It's good. Thanks for a very good recipe. I will definitely make it again.

Potato Pancakes

Reviewed: Jan. 31, 2010
Wow! I've never had potato pancakes before I have a bunch of potatoes that I need to use up and this sounded good. Follow the recipe just like written. I had no problems with dry, floury pancakes. You will find liquid as you grate the potatoes/onions, don't drain it. Use it in the recipe. I will totally be making this again. I think they taste best warm with a bit of butter. Tomorrow morning, we will try them with a homemade syrup recipe from this site. Thanks for the recipe.

Excellent and quick idea for supper and doesn't require much in the way of things to buy. I just kept adding the spices until it tasted just right to me. I will make this again. No adjustments were necessary. Thanks Zoe.

Best Whole Wheat Chocolate Chippers

Reviewed: Dec. 3, 2009
These truly are the best chocolate chip cookies I've ever had! Made even better by not using white flour, in addition to the W.W. Flour I added some Flax Meal. I didn't do nuts this time, maybe next time. I baked them for the 10 min. suggested and let sit on the cookie sheet for 2 min. and then moved to cooling rack. Perfect! Only other suggestion is that if you have a dog, keep these and any chocolate away from him. My 2 yr. old puppy ate 1/2 of one before I could catch him. Chocolate can kill dogs. Thanks for a great recipe. Oh, and have a cold glass of milk available for dunking.

Garlic Butter

Reviewed: Nov. 14, 2009
This is a very good recipe, excellent for bread and potatoes I can see. Definitely do go easy on the spices, you can always and should flavor to your taste. I did only 1 tsp. of garlic salt, and about 1/2 tsp. of regular salt. From there I just fine tuned it. The paprika is just good for color. Thanks Denyse.

Soft Garlic Breadsticks

These were very good. I also served with the garlic butter recipe from here. I look forward to serving these again. When you do the second rise in your oven, set your oven for 250-300 degrees. Then bake. Very tasty. Thanks Charles. I served these with Jambalaya.

Perfect Baked Potato

Reviewed: Aug. 18, 2009
These are very easy to prepare. Two tips that I used: Olive oil--I just put some on a kitchen towel and rubbed it on the potato. Yes, it still gets on your hand, but not as much. Besides it's just oil. Other tip, I had some coarse ground sea salt. But, it wouldn't stay on the potato, so I ground it up in my Magic Bullet and that was just right. I will rate this for taste after we eat. We have eaten now: This is the only way we will do baked potatoes from now on. So very good. Our toppings were fried onions, steamed broccoli, grated cheese, butter, salt and pepper. Thanks, very excellent recipe.

Excellent recipe for Nachos. Quick, easy and oh so tasty. I made the taco seasoning from this site, and also included on the nachos, tomatillos, avocados, a green sauce(tomatillo) and green onions. The best nachos ever. Thanks Charlie.
