Sweet Russian Cabbage Soup

Reviewed: Aug. 11, 2008
Excellent recipe. Followed other reviewer's suggestions and added 1/4 cup white vinegar for extra tang, used brown sugar instead of white, added 1 extra bouillon cube, and instead of adding another can of diced tomatoes as some suggested, added a few fresh diced tomatoes from the garden as well as the called for canned tomato sauce and canned diced tomatoes. I had to cook the cabbage longer than 25 minutes before it was tender - more like 35 min. Otherwise, I would not change this recipe.

Creamy Artichoke Pasta

Reviewed: Mar. 17, 2008
I guess creamy's just not my thing. It is tasty (moreso on my second try), but the texture still throws me off...also it's a bit spicy, consider leaving out the cayenne pepper. I used bowties the first time and rotini the second..the bowties were a better fit. Changed the original recipe the second time to include an extra clove of garlic and used a 17 oz jar of marinated artichokes from the produce market, and those changes made it much better. Still, not my favorite meal.

Homemade Black Bean Veggie Burgers

Reviewed: Feb. 21, 2008
Used 2 eggs and everything else by the recipe. Very tasty and didn't fall apart or anything. Other than the fact that it tastes like pure cumin, I will definitely make this recipe again (with about a teaspoon of cumin instead of a tablespoon). -I've made round 2 and 3 now, and settled on a teaspoon of cumin, 2 medium or small eggs, red instead of green bell, and add portabella mushrooms to the veggies. If you add a few (1/8 - 1/4 cup) extra bread crumbs and dry the beans and diced vegetables very well using paper towels, you won't have any trouble with patties falling apart.

Italian Vegetable Soup

Reviewed: Jan. 11, 2008
Tastes like vegetable soup. It's as thick as in the picture, though. After following the recipe exactly and trying some, I ended up adding more water to make it soupy, and adding more beef stock and some seasoned salt and louisiana hot sauce to give it a little more flavor. It wasn't particularly lacking in flavor...it just didn't really stand out either. All in all, a solid, easy recipe.
