Bacon Cheddar Chive Muffins

Reviewed: Feb. 15, 2004
I made several significant changes to this recipe for various reasons and it turned out great! Here's what I did: -substituted cooked and crumbled Morningstar Farms breakfast links and mock-sausage patties for the bacon (I'm vegetarian) -used some fresh sliced mushrooms and sour cream instead of cream of mushroom soup (my hubby is allergic to the MSG in the soup) -I didn't have any chives, so I left those out Next time, I'll add chives, and perhaps some olives. I might cut back on the cheddar to reduce the fat, but I'll have to figure out how to compensate for the reduction first.

Portobello Mushroom Lentil Soup

Reviewed: Jan. 9, 2004
This is a balanced, hearty soup which will be especially popular on winter nights. I only had 4 cups of broth so mine turned out a little more like stew than soup but is quite tasty anyway. I wouldn't suggest serving this to anyone who doesn't like lentils as the flavor definitely comes through, but the onion and pepper flavors are less pronounced. I might top some of the leftovers with sour cream and a little salt instead of parmesan. Next time I make this I will probably add more mushrooms.

Creamy Cheesecake

Reviewed: Dec. 9, 2002
We used extra lemon zest (because zesting is just that much fun!) and it was delicious. The cooking process took slightly longer than the recipe recommended but I believe this is because I put the rack too high in the oven.

Jalapeno Poppers I

Reviewed: Feb. 6, 2002
Very tasty and pretty easy to make. I really appreciated a recipe with common ingredients and especially the fact that I don't have to deep fry these. Not having any cream cheese on hand, I used a bit of sour cream instead. It was good, but a bit runny. I'm sure the unmodified recipe is firmer, but I just thought I'd share my experiment results. :o)

Janet's Rich Banana Bread

Reviewed: Feb. 6, 2002
Just want to chime in here and say that this bread is delicious. It came out soft and moist (but not underdone) on the inside with a slightly crunchy exterior. I also left out the nuts with no negative side effects. .................................... The second time I made it (after writing the review), I didn't have any sour cream, and so I substituted strawberry yogurt. Just thought I'd mention that it is quite tasty that way, too. :o)

Cinnamon Rolls III

Reviewed: May 20, 2001
The breadmaker aspect makes this recipe super easy and the pickiest person I know absolutely loves these. I have to admit, though, that I DID double the icing, because I hold a firm belief that cinnamon rolls should be absolutely slathered with frosting. :o)
