Rice & Beans (Haitian Style)

Reviewed: Jan. 14, 2010
this had a weird taste to me, I added 1/4 cup of sugar to cancel out the bitterness. I will not make this again

Shrimp in Sherry Cream Sauce

Reviewed: Jun. 26, 2009
Microwaving is not my idea of "cooking", so I totally re-did this recipe: 1 cup Cooking Sherry 1/2 cup Milk 1/4 cup Milk 1/2 cup Fresh Chives 2 teaspoon Dried Parsley 1 tablespoon Ranch Dressing 1 Teaspoon Olive Oil 2 Tablespoons Butter 2 Tablespoons Corn Starch Salt to taste Melt butter in sauce pan over Medium heat, in separate bowl mix together 1/2 cup Milk, Corn Starch, Sherry and Parlsey. Add to sauce pan, and stir, do not let boil. Add Chives and stir. Once sauce starts to thicken continue to simmer and add ranch and 1/4 cup Milk. Stir to mix well. Add Shrimp and simmer for about 2 minutes. Drizzle with olive oil and stir. Serve Immediatly. This version is really good over Ribbon noddles. I basically re-did it completly though

Mint Chicken

Reviewed: Jun. 17, 2009
This turned out pretty well, I used Crisco (butter flavor) instead of margerine and that was probably not a good idea. The chicken turned out really greasy. I also used 1 tsp garlic powder in the flour instead of real garlic. and it wasn't enough. (we love garlic) So next time, I'll use margerine and extra garlic.

One Bowl Brownies

Reviewed: Apr. 29, 2009
These brownies where good, nice basic recipe for when I am running low on ingredients and craving! I also subsituted the cocoa powder for chocolate squares (what a money saver! I wish I would have know about this before) My oven runs hot and I only cooked them for 30 minutes and it was still too long. Maybe next time just cook for 27 minutes and see how that is.

Pork Chop Pileups

Reviewed: Apr. 27, 2009
I made a few Changes, I cooked the Pork Chopes seasoned with Salt and pepper in a skillet first until brown. Then placed at the bottem of a casserole dish.I poured Cream of Muschroom soup over it that had been diluted with Milk. I then poured Frozen (not canned) green beans on the soup and topped with Crunchy Fried Onions. Covered and Baked for 20 minutes. My husband scarffed this up and he hates pork chops!

Chocolate Chip Muffins

Reviewed: Feb. 18, 2009
I followed other suggestions and altered the recipe, 1 cup of Milk and 1 tspn of Vanilla and I baked for 18 minutes and even that was too long. Should have been more like 15 minutes. Over all pretty good. My 5 year old scarffed them down!

Basic British Scones

Reviewed: Jan. 25, 2009
maybe I did something wrong, but these were more like crunchy biscuits than scones. I think next time I am going to not flatten them out and try to make the biscuit thicker and not not cook very long.

Sausage Shepherds Pie

Reviewed: Jan. 25, 2009
oh yum!! I could have eaten the whole pan! My husband really liked it too and said that next time he'd prefer 'fresh' veggies to the frozen ones but other than that it was great! I did leave out the Worchester sauce because I hate that stuff and it was great with out it :)

Chicken Dilly

Reviewed: Jan. 22, 2009
My husband and I did not care for this recipe. I couldnt find Tumeric so I left it out, it wasnt called for in a giant amount so I thought it would be ok. I have never used turmeric so I dont know if it could have helped anyway. The dill and the tomatoes fused to make a very odd flavor. It was just "weird" I won't make this again.

Roasted Pork Loin

Reviewed: Jan. 14, 2009
I made this with pork steaks instead of roast. I thankfully omitted the salt. The steaks where salty enough on their own. It was great otherwise, really nice favor and a great change from regular porl steak.

Fried Chicken with Creamy Gravy

Reviewed: Dec. 31, 2008
wohoo! I am so impressed with this recipe! I was a little concerned while making the gravey since the directions are not what I am used to, I added a pinch more flour and some salt since I didn't have much flour left over. I think the key to the gravy is actually following the directions. I sometimes cheat, but this is one that you gotta follow. The chicken was great too, first time I had ever made CFC and it actually all held together. I'm so happy! I made this with mashed potatoes and "South Georgia Biscuits" (recipe on here) and my husband just said "WOW!"

SMUCKER'S® Stuffed French Toast

Reviewed: Dec. 25, 2008
what a PAIN in the *&% to prepair!! haha!! but it was DELICIOUS! I ended up being like most of the people here and just cut the french bread very thin and put the filling between it and then stuck it together. It was ok...but next time I think I'm going to try and "over stuff" it. Living in Germany, we miss IHOPS "Stuffed French Toast" this is as close as we can get for now!

Simply Marinated Mushrooms

Reviewed: Dec. 25, 2008
I hate mushroom, but my husband likes them...so I made this recipe to take to a dinner at a friends house and everyone loved it!! I only had time to marinate them for 5 hours, but I think I will make it again and marinate it for the full 24hrs and I bet they'll be fabulous. I even ate some :)

Cheesy Artichoke Dip

Reviewed: Dec. 25, 2008
I used fresh Artichokes, just boiled and chopped them. I also used the marinated artichokes and left out the peppers. I added 1teaspoon of minced garlic and ground pepper. The recipe suggests to cook for 30 minutes and mine was brown and basically like burnt cheese. I recomend only baking for 15 minutes. It was hard to "dip" but still tasted good. Just not what I expected

Candied Yams

Reviewed: Nov. 28, 2008
I made this yesterday for my husband's Army company and and I guilt tripped some of the guys into eating it...and well, they LOVED IT! Two of them told me they had never had anything like it before and it was amazing. I did add the cinamon and extra marshmellows and cooked it at 400 degrees for 20 minutes then at 200 degrees for an hour. It made the marshmellows PERFECT.

Grilled Salmon Steaks with Savory Blueberry Sauce

Reviewed: Jan. 23, 2008
I thought this was great! I get bored cooking Salmon sometimes and this was a nice change. I did reduce the Vinegar (used red wine instead of Balsamic) & added more honey. If I make this again I will probably eliminate the OJ all together. I didn't like the citrus flavor.
