Reviewed: Jul. 7, 2015
Made these for a bake sale and they were to die for. Consistency was great and flavor was perfect. Another keeper!

These were awesome! They came out absolutely perfect. I got rave reviews and will definitely keep this as my go-to oatmeal cookie recipe.

Turkey Breakfast Sausage

Reviewed: Jul. 7, 2015
This came out pretty good. I used the ground turkey with the lowest fat and it came out a bit dry. The family loved it, though, so I will definitely be trying again!

Lo Mein Noodles

Reviewed: Apr. 20, 2015
This was pretty good. My daughter made it and added a little garlic powder and more soy sauce, but it was easy and came out great. We look forward to making it again and adding different veggies and meats to mix it up.

Wine Jelly

Reviewed: Dec. 3, 2014
I reduced the wine to 3 cups, reduced the lemon juice to just under 1/2 cup and increased the sugar to 4 1/3. I have to say, it set beautifully and tasted great. Thanks for sharing!

Chuck's Favorite Mac and Cheese

Reviewed: Aug. 30, 2014
I made this recipe as directed, however I used cheez-its(without the butter)instead of bread crumbs and added a layer of parmesan on top. We did 20 minutes in the oven and 20 minutes in the smoker. Everyone at the party loved it and took home all the leftovers, but I was honestly a bit disappointed. I was really looking for a creamier texture and tangy bite and I just don't feel like this recipe delivered. I have a feeling most of the guys liked it because of the smoke flavor, but I'm not a huge fan of the smoke and I think otherwise it may not have been such a big hit. For me it was just ok. This was really my first time making homemade mac n' cheese, but I think I'll keep looking for a recipe with a creamier consistency. Thanks anyway

Easy Egg Drop Soup

Reviewed: Feb. 17, 2014
I make this soup all the time with those little packets from the grocery store. You know, the ones with all the preservatives and ingredients you can't even pronounce, let alone want to eat. Well this is soup is just as good, if not better and just as easy. My kids LOVED it, and between the 3 of us, we finished the whole pot. Thanks so much for the recipe, now I can make this at home anytime I want. P.S. The only change I made to the recipe was to use chicken broth where it called for water, so as not to dilute the flavour.

Gramma Brown's Corn Chowder

Reviewed: May 29, 2013
I made this vegetarian style, which may be why it started out a bit bland. I added a bunch of garlic and onion powder and extra butter. Turned out pretty yummy

Beer Bread II

Reviewed: May 29, 2013
We make this recipe literally every day. We substituted jalapeno for the green chilis, increased the cheddar cheese to 1c. and add a teaspoon each of garlic powder and onion powder. We have made it in loaves, mini loaves and drop biscuits and they all come out fabulous. People rave about it. And it's so easy, my BF knows the recipe by heart.

To Die For Blueberry Muffins

Reviewed: May 19, 2013
I have to say this is one of the best muffins I've ever had. I think I did the crumb topping wrong, because it came out kinda crunchy. It was really difficult to work with too. I did add the vanilla to the batter and about 2/3 c. more milk to thin it out. I will definitely make the muffin again, but maybe leave off the crumb topping. I'm giving it 5 stars anyway.

Cheddar Muffins

Reviewed: Apr. 22, 2013
I changed these to make them a southwest muffin with some southwest seasoning, green chilis and corn. The flavor was great, but they were extremely hard. I was really disappointed because I planned to make these for my daughter's bake sale. Unfortunately, I am going to have to go with plan B because these were barely edible, let alone sellable. :(

Tofu Quiche with Broccoli

Reviewed: Jan. 14, 2013
This was a pretty good recipe. I made it completely vegan, so I used nutritional yeast instead of parmesan cheese. AndiI didn't have any broccoli so I substituted chopped spinach, mushrooms and roasted red peppers. It came out good, but I think the tofu mixture was missing something. Maybe next time I'll add some garlic powder and see if that doesn't do the trick. Will definitely make it again though.

Quick and Easy Vegetable Soup

Reviewed: Mar. 8, 2012
This reminds me of a soup my grandpa used to make. I substituted chicken stock for vegetable stock and threw in a chicken bullion cube. And I exchanged some of the veggies for what I had on hand, but I think anything would turn out good. Boyfriend loved it and even the kids who don't like veggies ate it without complaint. So all in all, this may be my new go-to recipe for a quick and easy soup.

Blueberry Coffee Cake

Reviewed: Mar. 7, 2012
I had to make this sugar free because I'm diabetic, but it came out pretty good. I added extra blueberries, which made it more moist than I think it's supposed to be, but otherwise had good flavor and I loved the cream cheese chunks. I will definitely try this again when I have company and can make it with regular sugar.

Zucchini Bread IV

Reviewed: Nov. 21, 2011
I mistook this recipe for my regular zucchini bread recipe, and I have to say, I was a bit disappointed. It had pretty good flavor, but it was EXTREMELY dry. It almost had the texture of a shortbread cookie, which I didn't care for. The only difference in the two recipes is that this one calls for 1/4 tsp baking powder and the other calls for 1 tsp and the cooking time is shorter. I'm sorry to say that I prefer the "Mom's zucchini bread" recipes much better, but thanks for sharing just the same!

Blue Bacon Stuffed Mushrooms

Reviewed: Nov. 18, 2011
Since this was a great method, I thought I'd be a ninja and deviate from the recipe. I mixed cream cheese, bleu cheese and bacon and stuffed the mushrooms with it. While they tasted FABULOUS (!!) the filling was runny and blobbed out onto the plate. My boyfriend didn't seem to mind as he ate each one with a "Mmmmm" and a smile, I think I'll stick to the recipe next time for a better consistancy. However, I am quite sure I will put this in the 'regulars' file.

Spinach Brownies

Reviewed: Oct. 31, 2011
I'm sorry to report that this recipe was not a success. I did make a few slight changes that I would have thought would have given it extra flavor, but it ended up being bland and flat. I added bacon like other members suggested, used 3/4 stick of butter instead of a whole stick, and olive oil instead of butter when sauteeing the onions. It may just be that I was expecting something different and it wasn't what I was looking for. Sadly, I probably won't make it again.

Springtime Strawberry Bars

Reviewed: Apr. 7, 2011
I purchased a mix for something very similar from Tastefully Simple that my family loved, but it was like $8 a box and you still had to add your own wet ingredients and preserves. So when I found this recipe, I was really excited. I used a whole 18 oz jar of apricot preserves as opposed to the 12 oz in the recipe. I also omitted the lemon peel and substituted almond extract instead. It made enough for my boyfriend to take some to work and to keep a small batch at home. I loved it and I will definitely try again with different kinds of preserves and nut combinations. Thanks for sharing!!

Roasted Red Pepper Muffins

Reviewed: Apr. 6, 2011
I forgot to add the course pepper, and substituted tiny cubes of pepper jack for the mozzerella, but these were a huge hit among the adults in the family. The kids were not thrilled because the cheese was a bit spicy and they were expecting something sweet, but they all vanished. I used a little mini loaf tin and they came out really nice. Definitely a keeper!

Maple-Drizzled Apple Muffins

Reviewed: Apr. 6, 2011
When I made these I did half brown sugar, half white and added the maple extract as some users suggested. I also couldn't find my muffin tin, so I made 4 mini loaves. BIG MISTAKE! It never fully cooked in the middle, so it had a bread pudding-like consistancy. The flavor was ok, but overall, I just wasn't thrilled with the texture and all. This one gets the round file. Sorry :o(
