Quinoa with Mushrooms

Reviewed: Oct. 5, 2014
This is a very good basic recipe- also this is my first to try quinoa. I cannot rate it a five star because I changed it a bit. I knew that when I read the ingredients, it will taste really great-- not overwhelming with so many ingredients that you won't enjoy the quinoa anymore. However, I did a little bit of change. I used dried shiitake mushrooms, (a lot) half a cup of frozen green peas, added a couple more garlic and lessen the broth to 2 1/2 cups. I did not have chicken broth, so I used the water that I soaked with the dried mushrooms and added half a chicken bullion. Followed the process but increased the final cooking of quinoa to about 15- 20 minutes at very low fire, stirring it from time to time. It is delicious! Wonderful recipe! You can add another veggie if you want more in there..definitely a winner! Thank you!

Neapolitan Cupcakes

Reviewed: Dec. 4, 2013
I've been wanting to try this but looking for a great occasion to bring in. Well, it was a success to the young and old! It looks exactly like the photo! Didn't change a thing in baking these cupcakes but used the cream cheese frosting that I still have. It didn't change a thing - my 2 dozens --they were gone in a few minutes! Thanks for sharing! It looked great as well!

Chocolate Chocolate Chip Cake Cookies

Reviewed: Jan. 26, 2013
Tried the recipe for the first time and it was delicious! Hubby & daughter loved it! Last night I did another batch but substitute 1/2 cup of brown sugar instead of the white- still good and more chewy and used milk chocolate chips. On the last dozen, I added some white chocolate chips. I omitted the nuts this time. Very good recipe! Thank you!

A Plus Fair Corn Dogs

Reviewed: Aug. 28, 2011
My daughter has been begging me to make corn dogs- yes, I tried it once but was a flop! So today, after Hurricane Irene left, I went out to get some ingredients. I got almost all except for the buttermilk. I thought I'd experiment and use sour cream instead. The rest is history! I followed all but just substituted an 8 oz tub sour cream + 1/3 cup milk for the buttermilk and no bacon drippings- it is still delish! We all love it! I wouldn't change a thing. Thanks for sharing!!

It tasted okay andbrought back memories of Grandma's cooking. However, I can taste the cornstarch even thoughI didn't finished the entire 1 1/2 C. Over all, it is ok and I finally finished the last piece last week.

Asparagus Quiche

Reviewed: Jun. 27, 2009
I made this recipe after reading all of the reviews- in fairness to Michele's recipe I have to say that if you all read her ingredients, it says 2 - 8" pie crusts- which means use 2 pie plates. She was misinterpreted and it's not fair to her for this quiche is wonderful! thanks for sharing Michele!

BREAKSTONE'S Triple Chocolate Bliss Cake

Reviewed: Jun. 22, 2009
I was looking for the best chocolate cake recipe and I found it!! I made it this weekend and took it to a "Graduation"/Father's Day party- they loved it! I wouldn't change a thing--it is delish!! ...and most of all, it is so easy to make! Thanks for sharing this recipe. Can't wait till I make the next one--will use the 'strong coffee'instead of water as suggested by one of the reviewers.

Clone of a Cinnabon

Reviewed: May 9, 2008
Loved it,loved it,loved it!!!This is Outstanding! Rushed home yesterday to start baking the rolls. I followed the recipe to the letter except for the yeast, at which I used the Fleismann fast-rising (acting?) yeast- didn't think it would make any difference. I did the Glaze/topping and it has a fantastic consistency I've ever seen! It's wonderful when you spread it all over the rolls. The only thing that made me doubt was the "15 minute" cooking time- which is a little too short for me- I baked it for a few more minutes, 7-8 minutes. The whole house smelled so good at 10:45pm!! It's a Five Star for me , no doubt! And just to comment on those "poor ratings" - maybe you guys need to give it a second try- you're probably doing something different?!?!?! Hats off to you, Ms Fernandez! Thanks for sharing it!

Orange Chiffon Cake

Reviewed: Jul. 30, 2007
This is great recipe! Very moist and quite delicate. I did not use the 1/4 C water but instead increased the OJ by that amount- I also did not have any orange peels and not enough lemon peels either. Didn't bother with the frosting as it taste sooooo good anyway! Definitely a keeper! thanks for the recipe, Ann!
