Byrdhouse Blistered Cherry Tomatoes

Reviewed: Jun. 21, 2008
I made these tonight and they didn't taste good at all. I was looking forward to the sweet with the sugar and the basil, but mine got clumpy and the tomatoes never blistered. Sorry, i won't be making these again. My 7 year daughter states " they're yucky".

Apricot Pork Chops

Reviewed: Jan. 28, 2012
Husband liked it, kids thought ok, but didn't eat too much. I had to make my own Russian dressing, and only had 1/2 packet onion soup mix and 1/2 amount of apricot preserve to make recipe. I liked it and saving recipe for future use. Nice to know I can replace pork with chicken. I think would work well in crockpot.

This was ok, cooked it after making a pineapple glaze for chicken. I may try it again, but it was average.

Mom's 'Sweet 'n' Sours' Pork Ribs

Reviewed: May 24, 2009
I have made this twice now. The first time i was a little rushed and didn't think the flavors were as intense, although my husband loved them. The next time, i used my crock pot after searing them first. They were very tender(falling off the bone) and flavorful. I used regular mustard as i didn't have dry. My kids thought the crockpot version was better.

Honey Baked Chicken II

Reviewed: Mar. 12, 2008
I just made this tonight and it was really good, both my kids, 4 and 7 year old, gave it two thumbs up! The only thing i changed was that i added more curry powder and will probably add 3 tsp next time. I think you could decrease the amount of the butter by 1/2, making it a little bit healthier. The long cooking time keeps this recipe in "my days off" list of supper ideas though.

Cajun Crab Soup

Reviewed: Nov. 4, 2007
I have made this several times now and it is just easy and very flavorful. I passed it on to a friend and she forgot the thyme. It really does need to have it. Enjoy.

Four Cheese Macaroni

Reviewed: Aug. 13, 2009
I make a quicker version of this. I use only cheddar and the velvetta. I do four cheeses for a dressed-up version. For less dishes, i drain the macaroni in the same cook pot, then add the milk, cheese, egg mixture into the warm pot with the macaroni----just let it melt slightly, and add into the greased pan and bake!! Very easy and family loves it.

Slow Cooker Maple Country Style Ribs

Reviewed: Mar. 21, 2009
I made this earlier in the week and everyone ate it all. My son rated it "double thumbs up". I am making again today. I did double the sauce ingredients because i had more ribs. Flavors aren't overwhelming and i might try adding some BBQ sauce when on the plate. Very easy to do as i mix the sauce right in the crockpot and you don't have to brown/sear the meat. I made this again, but should have tripled the liquid 'cause it was too dry. Otherwise it was very good.

Champagne Shrimp and Pasta

Reviewed: Aug. 18, 2008
I really liked this and so did my husband and a coworker that dropped by. I didn't have some of the ingredients, so did make substitutions, regular onion, white wine, and fresh spinach which i just slightly wilted at end of cooking. I think i will add some garlic next time too. I also didn't add cream to just the pasta, just a little oil to keep farfella from sticking. I did use less pasta than called for so i did have enough sauce. Very good~!!!!

Kathy's Delicious Whole Slow Cooker Chicken

Reviewed: May 31, 2008
Whole family loved it. It was done quickly on high. My crockpot has the ability to turn it up to 375 degrees, so i browned it first and then slow cooked it on low and it was very moist.

Lemon Garlic Tilapia

Reviewed: May 31, 2008
This was ok, sort of bland and i added extra garlic and lemon juice. Kids didn't like it and my daughter usually is pretty good about trying new things and she didn't like it either.

Bananas Foster II

Reviewed: Mar. 2, 2008
I converted the recipe for a serving of 4 and i will next time cut down on the rum and brown sugar, it was just a little too much for me, but my husband and 7 year old and 4 year old children liked it as is.

Baked Orange Roughy with Veggies

Reviewed: Feb. 8, 2009
My husband and i liked it, but the kids didn't think too much of it. We didn't have any green peppers, but we both agreed that it wouldn't have helped it. I really seasoned it well with the lemon pepper and salt and it baked up easily in 20 mins. I loved the zest of the tomatoes.

Butternut Squash Risotto

Reviewed: Oct. 4, 2008
I MADE THIS BECAUSE I LEFT OVER SQUASH AND NEEDED A SIDE DISH. MY HUSBAND WRINKLED HIS NOSE AT IT WHILE I WAS COOKING IT BUT HE RATED IT AS A 10!!! MY KIDS THOUGHT IT WAS OK. I ADDED A DASH OF FRESH GRATED NUTMEG AND I THINK THAT MADE ALL THE DIFFERENCE. WE WILL BE HAVING AGAIN AS THE ADULTS LOVED IT. OH, AND I CUBED MY SQUASH AND BOILED IT IN MY STOCK UNTIL SOFT, THEN PUSHED IT THROUGH A RICER AND ADDED TO THE RISOTTO AT THE END OF COOKING.

Very tasty. I leave out the onions because the kids aren't much of a fan of those. I also add 1/4 C of cheddar cheese.

Filet Mignon with Rich Balsamic Glaze

Reviewed: Jun. 23, 2008
I liked this, but i made the sauce on the stove seperate from the steak. I grilled the steak to medium on grill with just olive oil, salt and fresh ground pepper. Sauteed the vinegar, wine, and added a little honey until reduced. It thickened up after sitting for a little while. I enjoyed it with a baked potatoe and a glass of wine.

Angel Chicken Pasta

Reviewed: Jun. 21, 2008
I really really like this recipe, but i did think that it was time intensive. I will follow the advice of others by pan frying in small pieces next time so it will be faster. I also used mushrooms and doubled the sauce as others suggested. It looked like it was missing something, i would add peas for a spash of color next time. My daughter, who is 7, loved it!!! This is a keeper. Thanks.
