Middle Eastern Rice with Black Beans and Chickpeas

Reviewed: Aug. 24, 2010
Good recipe, nice change from the usuals. A little bit dry, will monitor rice and may add more fresh ingredients to help moisture.

Great crisp. I did double the topping and it made more than enough.

Apple Pie by Grandma Ople

Reviewed: Dec. 16, 2008
Very good pie. I would add some cinnamon to the apples, the caramel makes for an overly sweet pie.

Catherine's Spicy Chicken Soup

Reviewed: Dec. 16, 2008
Great, hearty, spicy soup. I would have given it 5 stars, but I have to agree with other reviewers about the tomatoes called for in the recipe. I ommitted the second can of diced tomatoes and the can of whole tomatoes. I would also reduce the amount of soup, but my husband thought it was fine. Do be careful, this soup is spicy. My husband and I love hot foods- our favorite recipe includes habanero peppers- and this soup was perfect for us, so it may be too much to take for those who prefer milder dishes.

Tasty Lentil Tacos

Reviewed: Nov. 3, 2008
Great recipe! I had to add more liquid than the recipe states (and used beef broth as others suggested) and cooked the lentils a few minutes longer than called for. Otherwise, it was great; my meat-eating husband gave his approval and everything!

Jalapeno Popper Spread

Reviewed: Aug. 17, 2008
Fantastic recipe! It was the hit of the graduation party. I did take the advice of other reviewers and add buttered breadcrumbs to the top for a little "fried" flavor. Next time, I will also use a more shallow casserole-type dish as opposed to a bowl for more topping per dip.

Indian Chicken Curry II

Reviewed: Jun. 7, 2008
Great home substitute for expensive restaraunt food. I made enough sauce to freeze for an easy dinner another night. We found it to be a bit sweet, so next time I'll tweak the sugar/coconut milk amounts.

Grilled Marinated Shrimp

Reviewed: May 23, 2008
Great recipe! We used EZ peel shrimp and I think that helped cut down on the saltiness and the grill flare-ups.

Greek Lasagna

Reviewed: Mar. 11, 2008
My husband and I love this dish. I do agree with other reviewers in that it can be dry. I will double the sauce recipe the next time I make it. And to those who find it "bland," yes, it is a mildly flavored dish, but it is very simple to alter the amount of spice in any aspect of the dish.

Mexican Shepherd's Pie

I loved it, but my hubby didn't. I would add ingredients that increased the moisture level of this dish, that was my only problem.

Awesome Sausage, Apple and Cranberry Stuffing

The flavor was good, but I'm not sure if the textural issues were my fault or that of the recipe.

White Cheese Chicken Lasagna

I followed the recommendations to forgo the layering and simply mix it all together and it was wonderful and easy. My husband prefers less spinach, even after following some of the advice to reduce the amount. Otherwise, it was a delicious recipe.

Hot Spiced Cranberry Cider

Reviewed: Nov. 26, 2007
This is a wonderful, soul warming recipe. Everyone at my Thanksgiving dinner loved it. My cider ended up with a "skin" on the top in addition to my floating spices, so next time I will probably pour it through a sieve instead of using a slotted spoon.
