Pierogies and Cabbage

Reviewed: Jan. 6, 2003
This recipe came out beautiful with adjustments. I used a bag of coleslaw mix, cut out the veg. oil as there was enough drippings, added 1t. of sugar because of the store bought tomatoes and used fresh pierogies (also made with potato dumplings once) I did not have white wine vinegar so used red instead. This dish was fully of color and carried a nice taste and look. This is a keeper! Anna H.

Ukrainian Baba's Pork Roast

Reviewed: Jan. 1, 2003
This is a good recipe with lots of missing pieces. The amount of water to cover the beets should be more defined as it makes the gravy. The sauce could be improved by blending some/all of the beets. The meat needs salt & pepper before the flour. The amount of time on the roast is more than an hr. I will make this again with adjustments. Anna

Grandma's Ham Casserole

Reviewed: Dec. 27, 2002
I took the advice of others on this and came out with an all around good recipe. I did not add the canned mushrooms. I put 2 cups of ham and could have used more. I cut out the water and used 1/2 cup milk . I used garlic powder and ground pepper to taste. I added 1 teaspoon of worchester sauce and a 1/2 a cup mozzarella cheese. It took an hour and a half to cook and my family enjoyed it. I did not cover it. Anna H.

Broccoli Quiche with Mashed Potato Crust

Reviewed: Dec. 5, 2002
I liked this recipe because I some how always have leftover mashed potatoes. I did listen to other reviews & change it . I used leftover yukon golds that already had butter & milk & added 1 egg , 1T flour, &1/3c half-n-half to get it all really smooth along with garic salt to taste. I baked for the 30 mintes until edge only was brown . I omitted Broccoli & made "denver" style . I sauted onion, mushroom and green pepper. I mixed eggs with half-n-half , changed salt to garlic salt & tossed in the ham , Pepper & nutmeg. Baked 35 and let set. My family ate the whole thing. Anna H.

Peach Kuchen

The recipe says margarine and then later says butter. I used butter and while it was difficult to spread it was excellent. I have made it twice since once with canned pears and 1/2 the cinnamon . It is a wonderful and handy recipe .
