Japanese Spinach with Sweet Sesame Seeds

Reviewed: Dec. 8, 2008
This is very oriental and I know its close to how koreans prepare the spinach for every meal. I changed a few things, I added soy sauce and changed the amounts of everything. Grinding up the sesame seeds is Not necessary though =) Easy side item!

Santa Fe Soup

Reviewed: Dec. 18, 2009
This recipes was not worth eating again. If you want to make something similar to this take out the onion and tomatoes and corn and beans. Add one can of rotel tomatoes any type that you like. It makes a great dip, that is why i was excited to try this recipe. Disappointment. But i did try it first with out the straight recipe, didn't like it. Then i tried adding taco seasoning, still no. Lastly i added more tomatoes which helped a tiny bit but just not worth serving. I'm glad this suits someones taste buds other than my own.

Yummy! I had many many compliments on this. Very simple to make. I put a little less than a cup extra of OJ though, still tasted great. Thanks for the recipe!

Stewed Korean Short Ribs (Kalbi Jim)

Reviewed: Dec. 21, 2009
Wonderful recipe! Make it just as written! My Korean fiance's only complaint was there wasnt enough soy sauce taste and he hates soy sauce. I'm not sure if that is because of the reduced sodium choice or not. But i would rather make it this way and just add a bit of soy sauce after. Thank you for sharing!!! Edit! Added a picture of my most recent making it again. Very yummy! I haven't been skimming off the oil nor trimming the fat off the short ribs before cooking. The rib bones afterwards go to dogs and my cat loves the fat and bits around the bone we couldnt chew off. Also i increased the reduced sodium soy sauce, water and sugar this last time since i used a bigger pot it didnt cover the meat much at all. It was just fine =)

Chicken Yum-Yums

Reviewed: Dec. 30, 2009
Very interesting recipe. I added banana(one sliced up), coconut(about a 1/4th cup), & sugar(about 1/4th cup). I mixed the sauce ingredients separately before adding to the chicken. I pounded the breasts, but only used 3, the 1.5 lbs package. Cut those in half after cooking which took about 30 minutes. I also used butter instead of oil. Very moist. Only thing i will do differently next time is egg and flour the chicken to give it a nice coating. Great with rice, put some coconut on the rice too. I only rated this 4/5 because of the adjustments. I did not like the sauce before making the adjustments.

Apple Delight

Reviewed: Dec. 30, 2009
Yummy! I used the golden butter cake mix, and melted extra butter as per other reviewers suggestions. I mixed the cake mix and 1/2 cup butter in a separate bowl. Added more butter until it had a dough ball shape after mixing with my hands. Put the apples in the pan and then tore up the dough over them evenly. Put some apple pie seasoning on top and baked accordingly. Very yummy. I am going to try a variation next time with more cake mix, a little on the bottom and the rest on top. This would be awesome with ice cream!

Quick Caribbean Quesadillas

Reviewed: Jan. 5, 2010
Edible, but I wouldnt eat it again. I didn't like the whole combination of things. If you do though, use extra cheese. They were dry and not cheesy enough to hold the tortillas together.

Heaven Scent Baked Apples

Reviewed: Jan. 5, 2010
Well, I was really really hoping to rate this higher. But it wasn't awesome. You have to really love apples for this. I enjoyed the condensed milk mixture though. The most vague thing about the recipe though is the boiled water. You must start boiling water when you preheat the oven. Water should be listed in the ingredients for the boiling water part. I could definitely see how the other reviewer would use the left overs in rice, and i may try it for mine.

Mmmm. Very yummy, needs something added though. More veggies or something. Added the soy sauce and even the seasame oil which both were great additions. I'll definately make again!

Korean Cucumber Salad

I will make this again using less vinegar, and probally use the rice wine vinegar instead. The vinegar was way too strong, but still worth attempting again. =)

Lemon Mint Pasta Salad

Reviewed: Feb. 19, 2010
I tried doing this as followed, but it didn't seem to work for me or 2 others. I can imagine that the pasta pictured would be much better than the bow tie. I will try making this again, but adding more lemon yogurt and less mayonnaise. Like another reviewer said, i can't imagine this served warm either.

Gingerbread People

Reviewed: Feb. 20, 2010
I would rate this a 5 but the cookies are a tiny bit of a pain. Firstly i had encountered the same problem as many others have - dough was far too crumbly, i added about 2 tbs more of butter that solved it. Refrigerating is only an option. If you do that you'll have to completely rework the dough to get it back to ready to roll and cut. After the cookies were cut and cooked i ended up with a cookie sheet. Not individual cookies. I just recut the cookies before they cooled and left them to cool before i removed the excess and them. The excess was probably enough to have doubled the cookiemen though..... All and all taste isn't bad, i dont like full flavored gingerbread men nor their hardness so this was a great replacement. I would definitely recommend them more so if they would have stayed like a whole not a blob.

Chicken Parmesan Bundles

Reviewed: Feb. 25, 2010
Very yummy, I could see a lot of people liking this recipe. I will cut down the spinach next time though and also be sure to use smaller chicken breasts. I tried to make it with 3 larger ones and it was just a bit too much on the inside. I'm also not a huge fan of spaghetti sauce, i think in this it took the flavor away from the chicken. I would serve it on the side.

Mark's English Sausage Rolls

Reviewed: Jul. 28, 2010
I made 18 rolls with a tablespoon of this mixture - cooked pork 1lb, half a bag of matchstick carrots, half an onion, 3 eggs and italian seasoning. I still had left over mixture after using the 1 package of pastry sheets. I fed 4 people these rolls for a small meal and they were satisfied. I had forgotten to put the dijon on the inside of the rolls so when they finished i put just a bit on the top and even the person who hates all mustards loved the extra flavor of spice the dijon brought to the roll. Will definately make again.
