About this Cook
Some of my earliest memories revolve around the kitchen with my mother, grandmother, and aunts.Who are fabulous cooks by the way.I have been cooking since I was about 7. Getting my first real cookbook at 11 or 12. I started my first kitchen job at 17 and have been working in this field ever since.I currently manage a kitchen for a small italian restuarant here were we live and have been there for three years.
My favorite things to cook
Good old southern comfort food. There's no better cure for being homesick.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Definatly Holidays! We come from big families so the crowd is always lively! Also baking cupcakes with my neices and nephews. Always a huge mess but it's great fun!

Royal Icing I
So quick and easy! My 5 and 6 yr old had a great time making this. We used it to construct our mock gingerbread house from graham crackers. We subbed vanilla for the lemon extract with good results.

Amish Friendship Bread Starter
Very easy and forgiving. for the feeding on day five I subbed hi gluten bread flour for the all purpose flour and brown sugar for the white sugar in the same amounts with great results. The starter comes out darker and has a more mild flavor! It's a keeper!
