Greek Tzatziki

Reviewed: Mar. 24, 2012
I have made this a few times, and everyone LOVES it. Great w/ pitas, crackers, fresh veg, whatever. I have learned, however, that your $2 is well spent to buy some really nice Greek style yogurt to start with. I made it initially with lower priced plain yogurt - - I will not ever do that again!!! The nice Greek style yogurt really makes better flavor and texture. This recipe does make A LOT of sauce so I will probably cut it in half unless it's for a very large gathering. The only adjustment I will do henceforth is reduce the salt a bit. Not so much for taste as for blood pressure ;-) Thanks for posting this !!!!

Vegetable Biryani

Reviewed: Nov. 22, 2011
I have made this dish several times and my family loves it. It's a great vegetarian dish with tons of flavor! I don't always have the whole spices called for but have substituted ground spices instead. Don't be timid with the spices! For variety I have tried adding almonds or cashews, raisins, or red lentils. Smells delicious, tastes wonderful, and is great for leftovers the next day.

Peanut Butter Bars I

Reviewed: Nov. 29, 2009
This was good but not great. Definitely needs less butter. My kids liked it though. I think a mix of semi-sweet & milk chocolate chips would be a good compromise, at least at my house. I think I would make these again, with those adjustments.

Sky High Yorkshire Pudding

Reviewed: Mar. 20, 2009
Thanks for this recipe! We've made these a few times and everyone in the family loves them. At my elevation, it helps to add an extra egg - we're about 5,000 feet. I found a great cast iron pan for the purpose.... but we still get the smoke alarms going...

Challah I

Reviewed: Nov. 19, 2008
My family loves this bread and it was fairly easy to make. I just followed the recipe. However, I have no prior experience with Challah bread so I don't know how it's "supposed to taste".... But we enjoyed this.

David's Yellow Cake

I had great success with this cake. I also tried it again but added almost 1 cup of cocoa for a chocolatey version, which turned out nice as well. Thanks!

Roasted Beets 'n' Sweets

Reviewed: Nov. 15, 2008
I liked the flavor of this dish immensely. The first time I made it, the beets were not quite tender enough. So the second time I added a bit of water to steam & and baked it with the lid. Then I removed the lid for the last 15 minutes or so. My family liked this, even the kids!

Spinach, Red Lentil, and Bean Curry

Reviewed: May 1, 2008
This was tasty! My husband especially liked it. The texture and flavor were lovely, lively but not super hot. I didn't have spinach though so I used frozen peas instead. I look forward to making it again!

Cawl (Traditional Welsh Broth)

Reviewed: Dec. 27, 2007
My family likes to have a couple of British meals around Christmas time, since we have ancestors from England, Scotland, Wales & Ireland - so I was excited to find this recipe. I used some beef on hand instead of the shin shank and it turned out nicely. I wasn't sure how everyone would react to the rutabagas and leeks, but the whole family really liked it! Excellent recipe! I'm looking forward to making it again!
