Broccoli Cheese Soup

Reviewed: Nov. 4, 2009
This soup turned out better than expected! I was a bit nervous about it tasting like milk and cheese, but was pleasantly surprised. I did blend it together with a hand mixer at the end so there were no broccoli chunks. It made a nice creamy soup. I will try "real" cheese next time though, just for the health factor.

Chicken Corn Chowder

Reviewed: Nov. 3, 2009
Excellent soup! I added more cream as the amount in the recipe didn't make it creamy enough. Great flavour though.

Conchi's Sangria

Reviewed: Nov. 3, 2009
This was fantastic! I used non-alcoholic red wine from the grocery store so that I could drink this at a party while pregnant. It was a really nice treat on a warm summer night.

Best Cream of Potato Soup

Reviewed: Nov. 3, 2009
Great soup. I used regular milk as I had this on hand and did not add the wine. I found it salty though, which I'm thinking was the chicken stock I used, so I would try a reduced salt type next time.

Broccoli Casserole

Reviewed: Nov. 3, 2009
This got good reviews by my guests, but I would change a couple things next time around. I would use lots less mayo and add more cracker topping.

Angela's Awesome Enchiladas

Reviewed: Nov. 3, 2009
One way to save time on the chicken is to buy one of the pre-cooked roasted ones from grocery store and start with that. It saved me lots of time and I was able to put it together for a Mexican night after work. I couldn't find enchilada sauce in the store either, so used salsa as a substitute. Probably changed the flavour by lots, but it was still fantastic!

Special Deviled Eggs

Reviewed: Nov. 2, 2009
The flavour was nice, however, the filling was too "liquidy". Maybe I'll try them again and cut down on the mayo.

Sweet and Gooey Chicken Wings

Reviewed: Nov. 2, 2009
Even though I marinated these the gooey part was only on the outside and was too gooey for us.

Honey Lime Chicken Wings

Reviewed: Nov. 2, 2009
I baked these as other reviewers suggested and didn't find them to be great. They just tasted like lime chicken.

Cranberry Sauce I

Reviewed: Nov. 2, 2009
Switched 1/2 brown sugar for the white sugar. It makes a nice, basic cranberry sauce.

I changed 1/2 the white sugar for brown sugar and mixed the sugar mixture in with the pears. It was fantastic!!

Mango, Peach and Pineapple Salsa

Nice and colourful, but way too much work for the flavour for us. Makes a whole pile, so be prepared!!

Cranberry Sauce Extraordinaire

Awesome cranberry sauce. I used chopped up apricots and raisins for the fruit.

Chocolate Turtle Cheesecake I

Reviewed: Nov. 1, 2009
AMAZING!!! I doubled the cheesecake batter to make thicker, which made for a nice high cake, just like in restaurants. I saved some of the caramel for topping too. The crust got a bit hard to cut, but not sure how I would change that. Would for sure make again!

Beautiful Salad

Reviewed: Nov. 1, 2009
Very easy to make and nice colours. I took it to a potluck and got rave reviews even though it was a bought dressing and not much work. Nice to have a recipe like this every so often!

Pumpkin Bread IV

Reviewed: Nov. 1, 2009
This bread is fantastic! I divided the batter into 3 and added chocolate chips to 1/3, nuts to 1/3, and left 1/3 plain. I made them into 24 mini loaf pans which needed about 25min to cook in my oven. I also substituted 1/2 cup apple sauce for 1/2 cup of the oil. Didn't change the health factor by much, I'm sure, but made me feel a bit better.

Best White Icing Ever

Reviewed: Nov. 1, 2009
Great to decorate cakes using a piping bag. I did have to add more liquid to the icing though. Just bit by bit until it would pipe out better. I didn't find it too sweet compared to my usual recipe.

Shannon's Wicked Brownies

Reviewed: Nov. 1, 2009
The flavour and texture of the brownies was fantastic. Word of advice though...do not over beat. I did this and the tops formed a hard layer with basically a hole in the middle, then a nice soft brownie bottom. Really weird. Still tasted great! I used "best white icing" from this website to decorate as mummies for Halloween as suggested by another user. Received rave reviews.
