Banana Bran Muffins

Reviewed: Mar. 12, 2008
These were excellent. They were very moist and flavourful. I added extra cinnamon cause we like it, but next time I would cut it back to the original amount cause it was a bit overpowering for the other subtle flavours.

Double Tomato Bruschetta

Reviewed: Mar. 12, 2008
This recipe is unbelievable! I broiled the bread with mozza on it and then allowed my guests to top with their own bruschetta. It made lots so I was able to try it with 2 sets of friends and both loved it. Thanks!

Muesli Bars II

Reviewed: Mar. 1, 2008
These bars are tasty! I halved the recipe and it still worked out great. Next time I will try adding a little bit less honey as it was a bit overpowering to the peanut butter using the ratio in the recipe. I waited a bit before adding the chocolate chips, but as other reviewers, not long enough cause they still melted in. Still got the peanut butter / chocolate taste, but next time I'll try being a bit more patient.

Bean and Bacon Soup

Reviewed: Mar. 1, 2008
I know this is not consistent with the other reviews, but I have to be honest. I fried the onions first and used beans in molasses. Not using the ranch style beans may have been where I went wrong, but all we could taste was spoonfuls of tomato sauce and beans with some bacon chunks. The soup was very acidic and the taste was not enjoyable.

Muesli Bars I

Reviewed: Feb. 26, 2008
Excellent recipe! I have to agree, they are addictive! I added dried cranberries to the recipe, which added some colour and great flavour. Other dried fruit would work well too. I would try to decrease the butter next time as I found them a bit greasy, but not sticky. I would also experiment with maybe more nuts and coconut as opposed to the sesame to change the flavour up a bit. Thanks for this one!

Savory Breakfast Muffins

Reviewed: Feb. 26, 2008
I substituted whole wheat flour for the white flour (healthier) and whole kernels for the creamed corn (all I had that morning) and it still worked out great. I think the creamed corn would be better and I will be sure to chop the bacon more next time too. These are great for breakfast, but also with soup for lunch too.

Indian Chickpeas

Reviewed: Feb. 26, 2008
Flavour was better for leftovers as it had time to soak into the beans.

Yogurt Almond Ice Cream

Reviewed: Feb. 21, 2008
A great alternative to using milk products. It froze rock hard though, so I'll have to see what I can do to help that.

Chocolate Velvet Ice Cream

Reviewed: Feb. 21, 2008
This ice cream is amazing!! I used 1/2 & 1/2 and it turned out great. It reminds me of Cold Stone ice cream. I'm sure it would be a great base ice cream to add other toppings into and experiment.

Beer Roasted Lime Chicken

The chicken turned out super moist. It could have used a bit more flavour. I'll try adding some more spices next time.

Carrots and Onions Au Gratin

Reviewed: Feb. 18, 2008
Very good. Sauce could have been made thinner and carrots cooked a bit longer. I'll try these couple things next time I make the recipe.

Chocolate-Covered Cherry Cookies

Reviewed: Jan. 5, 2008
Chocolate cookie is moist, but could be a bit more flavourful (maybe by adding some extract, maybe almond?). Cherry is nice surprise in the middle. They went over very well for Christmas.

Jen's Heavenly Egg Salad

Reviewed: Jan. 2, 2008
I know I'm going out on a limb, but my husband and I did not enjoy the egg salad. We found it bland and didn't think the mustard was the best mix with the eggs. Maybe if I had followed some of the other suggestions (e.g. dill) it would have been tastier.
