My favorite things to cook
I love to try new recipes. Being a working mom w/ a husband and two kids, I very much prefer quick, easy, uncomplicated, yet healthy meals during the weekday. Sunday night dinner is usually when I tend to get more creative and adventurous. I love to cook for my family and friends. In my house, anyone who drops by at dinner time is always welcome to join us at the table.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I am filipino, therefore it is only natural for us to have filipino food. My mom, who lives next door, actually cooks it more than I do.
My cooking triumphs
Sit down dinner for 8 adults. 4 course meal (all from scratch): Appetizers-Lumpia & Vietnamese Spring Rolls, Soup-Lobster Bisque. Main entree--Pan-seared scallops with black & white sesame seeds on a bed of sauteed broccoli raab w/ buttered rum sauce, served with risotto. Dessert-Peach crisp w/ vanilla ice cream.
My cooking tragedies
Cornbread from scratch. I just can't do it without turning it into a lethal weapon.

Glazed Meatloaf I
My kids don't usually eat meatloaf but this one was an exception! I used 1 cup of Italian breadcrumbs instead of bread slices and did not cook it in a meatloaf pan. Instead, I shaped the meat into a loaf and used a 11x9 pan to bake it on.

Perfect Turkey
Moist & flavorful! I used a cooler to braise my 20 lb turkey in and it worked perfectly. The turkey was already fully thawed and so I added ice to keep it cold overnight while it was in the cooler.
