Naan

Reviewed: Mar. 4, 2011
I thought this naan was outstanding. I followed the recipe, and had to play around a bit with the grilling before it started turning out the way I expected. I learned I should roll the dough very, very thin. Medium-high heat was enough. I also stopped buttering anything until it was done. In the dry pan, it bubbled and puffed up beautifully. Adding the butter afterward helped the flavor of our dinner, but it seemed to hinder the bubbling if I added it during cooking. I will definitely be making this again!

I absolutely loved this dish. It was so smooth and saucy, and the nutty flavor was outstanding. Would definitely make again.

Sweet, Sticky and Spicy Chicken

Reviewed: Nov. 20, 2009
We are crazy about this recipe. The first time I made it, the only change I made was to dredge the chicken in flour, as recommended by a few others. Next time, I added some pineapple chunks, dried cranberries, and sesame seeds. I also double the sauce and serve with rice. So delicious!

Cranberry Bars

Reviewed: Sep. 13, 2009
Absolutely outstanding. I followed the recipe as written the first time, but when we ate it all and my husband wanted more, I didn't have another cake mix. I used a basic cookie dough recipe (Big Batch Kris Kringle cookies without the add-ins), and added ginger, cinnamon, and oats. It came out a little firmer, and next time I would use a little less flour or underbake it for a softer bar. I'd rather not use cake mixes anyway.

Oregano Chicken

Reviewed: May 16, 2008
I had lime juice instead of lemon juice, and I used pretty well the full recipe of sauce and half the chicken so it would stay really juicy. It was pretty tasty, but we liked it better the next day when we cut up the leftovers and tossed it with pasta and alfredo sauce. The lime juice gave it a nice zip!

Pineapple Chicken Delight

Reviewed: Apr. 8, 2008
I read a variety of reviews before trying this recipe, and I've made a few modifications myself as well. I've made it three times now, once for a dinner party, and it has been very well received every time. I add a bit of soy sauce, Worcestershire, and white vinegar to the sauce, and reduced the pineapple juice. I add the vegetables only for the last 15 minutes of baking because they could, indeed, be soggy and overcooked if they sat in the sauce for the whole hour. Oh, and I marinate the chicken in the sauce for 24 hours before cooking. In any case, my family and friends and I LOVE this recipe! It's easy and delicious; I highly recommend it!

Oven-Baked Beans

I used proscuitto instead of bacon (I couldn't find any once, if you can believe that), and bbq sauce instead of ketchup. Wow, did it ever turn out well!People I know who don't like beans raved!

Beer and Soy Sauce Chicken

Reviewed: Mar. 1, 2008
Pretty good, and an unusual flavour. I made this on my indoor grill, and boy, does the kitchen ever smell like beer when you're done! The chicken came out tasty and juicy, though.

Baked Onion Rings

I thought these were very tasty, but they weren't very well received by my husband. They turned out a little dry and messy.

Brunch Egg Bake

Reviewed: Dec. 20, 2007
I tried this for the first time and served it to friends for a Christmas brunch. It was a huge hit! I made a few changes -- different cheeses, and a little less than called for; no mushrooms, additional peppers and green onions -- and prepared it the night before so it was ready to bake in the morning. Everyone loved it, and I will definitely try it again. Next time, I'd like to add a layer of spinach. This recipe is super versatile, and lends itself to simple changes to suit personal tastes, or available ingredients.
