Apple cider vinegar was all I had so I went for it and it resulted in a hint of fruity flavor. All the kids (age 5 - 10) loved them!

Banana Cream Pie I

Pretty easy but thought my arm was going to fall off from the constant stirring. Only change was to doubled the vanilla. I did the cookie crust recommended by others.

Simple Whole Roasted Chicken

Reviewed: Oct. 22, 2010
Great tatste BUT it was totally burned within the first 20 minutes. I'd recommend all the spices but only 350 degrees and then broil it for a few minutes if it is not brown enough for you

Breakfast Casserole

Note that the recipe is for 2 servings. Small changes - I left the crust, for 6 servings - added 1/3 c sour cream, only 2 c milk, added some garlic powder,we dont eat pork so used 1 package of turkey bacon. Served with fresh fruit on the side. LOVED this, left overs will be great tomorrow.

Chocolate Decadence Cake I

Took this to Passover Seder. I was told that this was so good, I could present it to God himself! I will be making this all year, not just at Passover. My eggs never got stiff still turned out perfect. Can't say enough about how awesome this was. Everyone wanted seconds.

I changed the spices as follows: 2 tsp powder garlic, 1/2 tsp basil, 1/4 tsp oregano and 1 inch of fresh rosemary chopped fine. After 2nd rise, brushed top with olive oil and sprinkled with course salt. Dipped in olive oil/balsamic vinegar. AMAZING!

Super Duper easy. Made them twice in a week, for company. I got lots and lots of compliments on my super cooking talents. People were even "fighting over them" and "stealing them". Thank you for making me famous with my extended family!

Dark Chocolate Cake I

Reviewed: May 30, 2008
In spite of not having all the ingredients and having to substitue items this still came out wonderful. I didn't have enough cocoa powder and had to use some semi sweet choc squares so I cut down on the sugar. I used half milk and half water. I made 2 rounds and did the rest of the batter into little muffin tops which I filled with marshmallow cream for the kids. I topped the adult rounds with whipped cream and strawberry in between the layers and dusted top with powder sugar

Challah I

Reviewed: Jan. 25, 2008
I've made this twice now. Came out dry the first time. This may have been my error since this time it came out perfect! Just as good as my favorite bakery and better than the local grocery store. Make sure to knead it as long as you can possibly handle. The head baker at the bakery said it needs 45 minutes if doing it by hand. I didn't quite do that long but I did it about 30 minutes. Will be making tghis every Friday night!

Pillow-Soft Dinner Rolls

Reviewed: Jan. 21, 2008
The amount of time this takes is deceiving as it does not take into consideration the 90 minutes worth of rising time so if you are making these to be hot with the meal, plan accordingly. I would also say to cook until lightly browned not golden otherwise they get too done on the bottom. Taste was good. Gave some away today and will be making more tomorrow.

Aunt Lillian's Crumb Cake

Reviewed: Jan. 21, 2008
Very moist. For topping, I took advise from naples34102 who said "Instead, I put all the batter in the pan, then sprinkled the following crumb mixture on top, mixed to the consistency of moist sand: 1/2 c. flour, 1/2 c. brown sugar. 1/4 c. butter, 1/2 tsp. cinnamon." and it was great.

Grandma VanDoren's White Bread

Reviewed: Jan. 8, 2008
Good bread. Didn't give 5 * because it's not fabulous to me but it is a good bread that I will make again. The crust came out of the oven HARD and I was very disapointed. It was golden brown and not over cooked but very hard. I wrapped the loaves in tin foil over night and when I got up this morning they were soft. Had 2 pieces for breakfast and the kids each had a sandwich too. They think it is great.

Best Big, Fat, Chewy Chocolate Chip Cookie

Reviewed: Jan. 7, 2008
Super yummy! I didn't have unsalted butter so I just used my regular butter and omitted the salt called for in the recipe. I didn't need to refrigerate but did make sure that I didn't over mix the sugar, butter, eggs. I only momentarily mixed the dry mixture. I baked on a baking stone. Only baked what we were going to eat right then and put the rest in the fridge for tomorrow.
