Chicken Katsu

Reviewed: Oct. 23, 2011
I was surprised at how good this was. I usually don't like chicken breast but the chicken was nice and moist. I recall when I was working at a take out place they marinaded the chicken before breading with panko so I was quite surprised at how tasty the katsu was without a marinade. We will try using a deep fryer next time to get the chicken to a nice crisp brown color. Recommend serving right out of the pan/fryer when nice and hot. It tastes best that way.

Double Tomato Bruschetta

Reviewed: Oct. 2, 2011
I had to modify recipe only because I had use what I had on hand. I didn't have sun dried tomatoes or balsamic vinegar but it still came out delicious. Everyone loved it, no left overs on this one. I toasted bread as recommended by many reviewers. Yummy!

Savory Crab Stuffed Mushrooms

Reviewed: Oct. 2, 2011
This recipe is delicious! I omitted the green onions and used a cheddar cheese mix I had left over from taco night. I also stuffed a couple of Roma tomatoes because I ran out of mushrooms and it was so good. This is a great way to use left over crab legs. I almost made a crab dip but I'm so glad I didn't. Thanks for the recipe!

My Best Clam Chowder

Reviewed: Sep. 18, 2011
followed recipe exact, the flavor was awesome, however it was a bit to creamy/thick for my family. I guess the places we eat clam chowder serve it more liquidy so that is what we are used too. Other than that it was good.

Glazed Meatloaf II

Reviewed: Jun. 13, 2011
My husband liked this meatloaf but he added BBQ sauce on top so I can't give it 5 stars. Recommend not to use the lemon juice in the meat mixture if you don't use lemons often in your cooking. It was too overpowering for me...in the sauce it was okay. Other then that it was good.

Sylvia's Ribs

Reviewed: May 28, 2011
Followed recipe exact and used 1 rack spareribs and 1 rack baby backs. It was delicious! I saved this recipe over 2 years ago and finally got around to using it. During the boil I added in sliced onions, soy sauce, crushed garlic, and some vinegar. You could add any spice/seasoning and I'm sure it would be delicious. My husband shredded some leftovers to make pork sandwiches the next day.

Old Settlers' Baked Beans

Reviewed: Apr. 28, 2011
For a family that don't eat beans too often this is a yummy and easy way to get those kids to eat beans. Based on many reviewer comments I cut back on the sugar and only used the brown sugar. It came sweet enough for my daughter to love it! She had seconds. I also used pork&beans and white beans. I cooked the bacon seperately first and also saved some (uncut) to layer the top before baking. I grew up eating hotdogs in the p&b so I subbed the hotdogs for the ground beef.

Jambalaya

Reviewed: Apr. 22, 2011
Great recipe! My husband came home and asked, "did you make this from scratch?" We usually eat the instant stuff to make dirty rice, jambalaya, etc. The taste was very good. What's great is you can cut back the spice to your taste. We loved it spicy! I followed some suggestions and prepared the rice seperate omitting the chix broth entirely. Over some hot jasmine rice...YUM!

Baked Potato Skins

Reviewed: Apr. 19, 2011
Made twice, the first time I baked the skin side up first. The second time I baked potato side up first. The second time came out much better if you like you want the potato crispy like I do. Also mixed cheese with some pepper jack I had left over and it was so delicious. The parm cheese on coating makes the this so good. I just microwaved the potatoes about an hour before serving so they can cool off which makes it easier to shell out centers. Recommend serving straight from oven to get the best "ooohhh it's good" comments.

Guacamole

Reviewed: Apr. 16, 2011
Very good recipe! After a couple of times eating the guacamole I got bored so I added some jar salsa to it and it was still very good.

Penne with Chicken and Asparagus

Reviewed: May 31, 2010
Overall this was a good dish but like many of the other reviews it was alittle bland if you follow the recipe exact. I had to add alot more garlic powder to give it more taste. I also used an Italian blend of shredded cheese which made the dish complete. My family did not like the idea of no sauce but I really liked it.

Tantalizingly Tangy Meatloaf

Reviewed: Dec. 2, 2009
My husband and I love meatloaf so I'm trying many different recipes to find the perfect one. This one is pretty close to it...meat came out moist and lots of sweetness with the brown sugar.

My Chili

Reviewed: Jul. 5, 2009
Just like the recipe says, this was a good basic chili recipe. You could really spice up the chili by adding your own touch to it. I added some mayo to make the sauce a little creamy and hot sauce to give a some kick.

Glazed Meatloaf I

Reviewed: Sep. 28, 2008
Loaf came out moist and overall it was good. For me I didn't care for the mustard though but everyone else liked it. I'm giving this recipe one more try. I like to use half ground chuck or sirloin and half hamburger that way not too much oil comes out of the loaf.

Debdoozie's Blue Ribbon Chili

Reviewed: Dec. 19, 2007
Followed recipe except added 1 tbsp of chili powder...we like it a bit spicier. Based on all the reviews it seems like you can pretty much add what you like and use this as a good base recipe. The salsa does wonders to the chili. My husband loved it which is a great compliment since this was the first time I ever made chili from scratch.

Warm Jalapeno Cheese Dip

Reviewed: Dec. 7, 2007
Followed recipe but the cheese still was not melted smooth. Could be the brand of cheese I used. Anyway my husband made this on a couple of times and he loves it and kicks up the heat by adding more hot sauce.

Seven Layer Dip II

Reviewed: Dec. 2, 2007
Great dip! I followed the suggestion of several reviews and mixed 1/2 of the taco seasoning to the beans instead of the sour cream. I prefer my sour cream plain. Came out delicious~

World's Best Lasagna

Reviewed: Nov. 26, 2007
Wow! This was the best lasagna that I ever made. Making the sauce from scratch was well worth it. I made the sauce earlier and put everything together later that night. Followed the recipe to a tee except I left out the fennel seeds. Also took others advice and soaked the noodles in hot water. My husband ate 2 servings and then some. With the extra sauce I put it over the lasagna the next day for leftovers. Yummo!
