I am a housewife and a mother to one son who has recently moved out of the house. I love to cook and enjoy watching food shows and competitions. I would really love to go to culinary school but it doesn't fit into my life at the moment. Someday I will.
My favorite things to cook
I love to cook anything savory. I love to experiment with vegetables that some people wouldn't be familiar with. I do not have much of a sweet tooth so I don't do much baking.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My family cooking traditions are simple meals made quickly. I like to take a little more time and be a bit creative with herbs, spices, and differnt combinations of foods. Learning how to balance the different flavors makes cooking even more fun.
My cooking triumphs
I can't say I have any cooking triumphs. I just follow recipes, add my own special touches, and it usually turns out good whatever it is.
My cooking tragedies
My tragedies would be desserts. I am not very good at them. They don't look very good when finished but everyone says they taste great. Not sure I believe them!

Parmesan Asparagus
We really liked this recipe. The only difference for us was we put the asparagus on the grill. I used Mrs. Dash Garlic and Herb along with olive oil. After it cooked half way through, we added the parmesan (had them in a shallow aluminum dish) so that we could grill them with the parm. Turned out really good. We will be making this one again.

White Bread For The Bread Machine
This was my first attempt at making bread. The recipe was easy and the bread turned out light with a good texture. I used olive oil since I didn't have vegetable oil and it worked just fine. I will be making this again. Thanks for posting!

Grandma's Pork Chops in Mushroom Gravy
My husband and I loved this recipe. I made it almost as written. The only difference is I used fresh mushrooms and sauteed them in a little additional olive oil. I also added a bit of onion and some fresh rosemary to the mushroom mixture. My intention was to bake them for 30 minutes but my hubby is funny about pork so I baked them for 45 minutes. They were a tiny bit tough but with the gravy that goes over them, they were simply delicious. I also made some mashed potatoes and the gravy was delish on those as well. I will be making these again. Thanks for sharing!
