Chantal's New York Cheesecake

Reviewed: Sep. 23, 2013
Not good...not good at all. first of all, the crust was way too thick, i used the recomended amount of graham crackers and the crust was twice as thick as it should have been and yes..i used a 9 inch spring form pan that i bought for my daughter's bday as she requested cheesecake and i had never made one before. the top was brown, yes, brown, and it cracked (which i didnt care about that) but the worst part was the taste, it didnt even taste good. not good at all, thick and pasty with no flavor. i ended up buying a cheesecake from our local bakery and it was delicous. i dont know what i did wrong when making this. i would really like to know.

Nana's Apple Crisp

Reviewed: Sep. 20, 2011
Very good stuff! I followed to a T. Only thing I'll change next time is to use maybe 6-8 cups apples instead of the 5. The apple/topping ratio was a little off. Otherwise, great recipe!

Outrageous Chocolate Chip Cookies

Reviewed: Apr. 26, 2011
I think these are great cookies! If you like choc/pb/oatmeal then you will like these. The texture and taste is good. I baked mine for 12 minutes. I did switch the brown/white sugar mixture around ( too add more brown sugar). otherwise made as written. I bet they will taste even better tomorrow. To me, cookies usually taste better the next day after sitting awhile. MmmMmmmm would be great with a big glass of milk. Do keep in mind that there isn't much oatmeal in them, so they are not your typical oatmeal cookie. I wonder if you could add 2 cups of oatmeal instead of just one?

Ham and Cheese Bowties

Reviewed: Dec. 27, 2010
We loved this!! Had some leftover ham from Christmas.. I prety much followed the recipe with the exception of sauting some onion in the butter before adding the garlic. oh, and my son was scooping his with Chicken In a Biscuit Crackers so I crushed some of those up and it tasted even better with that as a topping. Yum! Will make again.

Beer Batter Fish Made Great

Reviewed: Oct. 12, 2009
This was very good. I used tilapia. It did taste sort of fishy but that is because I had to use the tilapia..would have been better with a different kind of fish. we also made onion rings in the excess batter and they were awesome!

This was so good.. Used a tri-tip roast. Added the water but also used a can of beef consomme and a splash of worcestershire. Very tender meat and a great tasting gravy.

Baked Asparagus with Balsamic Butter Sauce

Reviewed: Apr. 26, 2009
I made this tonight. It was good. I did add I think too much butter, but that was my fault. Also, watch the time! 12 minutes was too long and the asparagus was over cooked. (and i like mine very soft) .. so, overall good taste, and i'll make again, just wont bake as long. oh, and i subbed red wine vinegar, because i didnt have balsamic.

Jalapeno Popper Spread

Reviewed: Apr. 20, 2009
Great, excellent!!! Have made several times. I too bake mine for about 30 minutes, with fresh parmesan on top and bread crumbs. Definately good with Round buttery crackers. I've lately been mixing in some cheddar cheese with the cream cheese/sour cream and that is an excellent additions. I usually double the jalapenos and its not too hot. The great thing is you can make this however you like, hot or mild, depending on your preference. Everyone asks for this recipe. You will not be dissapointed.

Brown Sugar Meatloaf

Reviewed: Apr. 20, 2009
I thought this was OK. I like the Rempel Family Meatloaf on this site better. The problem is the ginger. I just didnt care for that flavor in the meat at all, and it kept me burping all night. Not good. anyway, would be great without the ginger, but that's just my opinion.

Marinated Pork Tenderloin

Reviewed: Apr. 20, 2009
So nummy!!! OMG. Tender, juicy, great flavor. I marinated mine for about 20 hours, and it was great. Cooked on charcoal grill for about an hour. I doubled marinade, but only used a pinch of cinamon. I dont think I would have liked it too well with alot of cinamon. I just used a pinch, so it had a subtle flavor. I did like others suggested and boiled the sauce. I did not care too much for the sauce on the meat or as a gravy for the potatoes. It was too sweet, and the cinamon flavor was too pronounced. Otherwise, great receipe. Thanks!!!

This was excellent! best meat loaf I've ever had. Followed receipt to a T. I did make a glaze for the top with brown sugar, ketchup, mustard, worstershire, etc. and added that on the last 15 minutes. Very good. Will make again.

Beth's Spicy Oatmeal Raisin Cookies

Reviewed: Apr. 20, 2009
Very good cookie. I baked mine about 11 minutes. The first batch was hard to get off the pan. These taste better the next day. I used all butter because I didnt have crisco on hand. I will make these again! I wonder how they would taste with chocolate chips? might try that, as my bf is the only one who likes the rasins.
