Irish Soda Bread I

Reviewed: Mar. 18, 2010
I've made this bread every year for St. Patty's Day for the last four years. It is always a big hit and everyone wants the recipe. Since I only make it once a year, it always surprises me how sticky and unweilding the dough is. And every year I get to the point of dumping it in the loaf pan thinking it will surely be a disaster, and it miraculously turns out great! (Must be the luck of the Irish!) My only variations: I put the whole thing in one large loaf pan and have always omitted the raisins. The finished product is definately sweet and could be used for a breakfast or brunch bread. Love it with tons of butter!

Clone of a Cinnabon

Reviewed: Sep. 19, 2009
I love this recipe. I make the dough in my bread machine and then do as previous reviewers have suggested--I prepare the dough and roll and let it rise overnight. Next morning, I pop it in the oven and house wakes up to a delicious aroma! I have substituted up to one cup of whole wheat flour, and have used almond milk instead of regular milk. But since this is not a low cal, healthy recipe to begin with, I usually just indulge myself and make it as is. The recipe really does live up to it's name-took this to a recent brunch and everyone thought I picked them up at Cinnabon! Delicious! Thanks for sharing.

Easy Cheese Ball II

Reviewed: Jun. 16, 2009
This cheeseball has been a hit at many parties since I discovered it last December. I get requests for it whenever we go to friends' houses for potluck. The recipe has a large yield and I usually shape a big cheeseball for the party and a little one for us to enjoy the next day at home, since there are never leftovers!

Honey Wheat Sandwich Rolls

Reviewed: Jun. 16, 2009
My husband loves these rolls and asks for them instead of bread for sandwiches. They are light and soft and easy to make. I've used both honey and substituted molasses and both are delicious. I omit the butter. Update: Still making this recipe each week for sandwiches. It is great! I have experimented to make it healthier, with some good (and other disasterous) results. Substituted the milk for almond milk and soy milk perfectly. Substitited honey for molasses-much denser, but okay. I always substitute 1/4 of the bread flour with a 9 grain mix and gives a nice texture. Went health nutty one day and substituted the whole wheat flour for teff flour and the butter for veggie shortening--yikes! Do not attempt!
