Every year as I'm cooking Thanksgiving dinner with my mom, I can't help but remember past Thanksgiving holidays. Some are more memorable than others. The Thanksgivings that I a remember as a child were all at my Nanny's house and they kind of run together, though each are special.  My first… MORE

OK, it's the last day of August, and I would say, for the most part, I succeeded in my challenge. My BF took me out to dinner one time, and picked up KFC one time. Other than that, NO eating out, not even for lunch. The only items we picked up at the grocery store were refrigerated items (and… MORE

Still no pics, sorry. I'll try to get some up eventually. I'm having issues getting them from the camera to the computer. I'm making a point to grab stuff out of the pantry and use what's in there. Go me! I was reading an article this week and it said something about using more positive words,… MORE

No pictures, sorry. The batteries were dead in my camera so I borrowed my sons and I'm not smart enough to upload them onto the computer. A few days this week were really a challenge. Not for lack of food, by any means. Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday were horrible. But, thanks to my wonderful… MORE

OK, so the first few days have been pretty easy, of course that's to be expected. I don't really expect it to get difficult until week 4. My wonderful, loving children cleaned out the fridge for me and threw away a container of leftover spiral ham. Sooo sad. I had big plans for it. Well,… MORE

So, this month, I'm trying to not spend money unless it's absolutely necessary. I'm horrible about tossing out leftovers and letting produce go to waste. So this month, I'm ONLY buying fresh items...milk, eggs, fruits and veggies - maybe bread. I really think I have enough food in the house to… MORE

I went to Ohio to visit my family in May. While I was there, I found the coolest stuff ever. Backtrack for a sec....my Nanny was an amazing cook, she passed away 14 years ago. The only thing I ever wanted was her recipes. Everyone else in the family got her quilts and things like… MORE

About Me
I'm a single mom with 2 active boys. I love to use my slowcookers (I have 5 of them, 6 if you count the mini crock) and my bread machine gets used quite often as well.
My favorite things to cook
I love to cook anything that my boys will eat. Most of the meals that I cook at home are fairly easy with common ingredients. We have such a busy schedule that most of our meals need to be fairly quick and easy. Although, on occasion, I do enjoy cooking something a little more complicated when time permits.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Every Christmas my entire family gets together to make tons of cookies. All of my aunts, cousin's, their kids, my papaw and close friends. I haven't been able to participate for several years since I live halfway across the country, but I look forward to seeing pictures and hearing stories of "cookie day" every year.
My cooking triumphs
I consider any meal that my pickiest eater will eat to be a triumph. Lately, that's been more and more. Ever since finding this site I've been able to expand my menu with foods that he enjoys. Yay! Thank you AR!
My cooking tragedies
I'm sure we've all done this...I was cooking a special meal for a special person in my life and accidentally turned up the wrong burner and burned the main meal to the point that it's inedible. I HATE it when that happens. LOL
