I love cookies. I mean, I love cake, and candy, and pretty much any kind of sweetness, but have a special affinity for cookies. This month, I was thrilled to be picked for the Allrecipes Allstars Reynold's campaign featuring their parchment paper and Cookie Baking Sheets.¬†Anything that… MORE

OK, it's the last day of August, and I would say, for the most part, I succeeded in my challenge. My BF took me out to dinner one time, and picked up KFC one time. Other than that, NO eating out, not even for lunch. The only items we picked up at the grocery store were refrigerated items (and… MORE

Still no pics, sorry. I'll try to get some up eventually. I'm having issues getting them from the camera to the computer. I'm making a point to grab stuff out of the pantry and use what's in there. Go me! I was reading an article this week and it said something about using more positive… MORE

No pictures, sorry. The batteries were dead in my camera so I borrowed my sons and I'm not smart enough to upload them onto the computer. A few days this week were really a challenge. Not for lack of food, by any means. Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday were horrible. But, thanks to my wonderful… MORE

OK, so the first few days have been pretty easy, of course that's to be expected. I don't really expect it to get difficult until week 4. My wonderful, loving children cleaned out the fridge for me and threw away a container of leftover spiral ham. Sooo sad. I had big plans for it. Well,… MORE

So, this month, I'm trying to not spend money unless it's absolutely necessary. I'm horrible about tossing out leftovers and letting produce go to waste. So this month, I'm ONLY buying fresh items...milk, eggs, fruits and veggies - maybe bread. I really think I have enough food in the house… MORE

I went to Ohio to visit my family in May. While I was there, I found the coolest stuff ever. Backtrack for a sec....my Nanny was an amazing cook, she passed away 14 years ago. The only thing I ever wanted was her recipes. Everyone else in the family got her quilts and things like… MORE

About Me
I have 2 college age sons, one is away at school and the other is living at home attending our local community college for a couple of semesters before flying the coop. I love to cook, it's stress reliever for me. The chopping, the sauteeing, the mixing, the measuring, the baking... it's soothing to me and my family sure appreciates all the yumminess they get while I'm de-stressing.
My favorite things to cook
With my kiddos gone most of the time, and a fairly empty social calendar, I am cooking more and rarely making the same dish twice. I also love finding new twists on old favorites and searching through my recipe box for recipes I want to try but knew the kiddos wouldn't eat.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Every Christmas my entire family gets together to make tons of cookies. All of my aunts, cousin's, their kids, my papaw and close friends. Since I live halfway across the country and haven't been able to participate for several years, I started having my own "cookie day" with my friends and their children. I love having everyone over and the smell of all the baking cookies is so homey and comforting.
My cooking triumphs
I consider any meal that my pickiest eater will eat to be a triumph.
My cooking tragedies
I'm sure we've all done this...I was cooking a special meal for a special person in my life and accidentally turned up the wrong burner and burned the main meal to the point that it's inedible. I HATE it when that happens. LOL
