I have been cooking for over 25 years. It is difficult for me to give quantities in recipes because I "cook from the cupboard" and don't usually measure.

A Lady Baltamore cake for my mother's birthday that, after the cake was in the oven, I realized that the dozen eggs, that should have been in the recipe, were still on the table! The cake came out looking like a big cookie. When Mom came home she tried to sooth me by saying that we could use it with strawberries (to soften it).
