Spicy Indian Dahl

Reviewed: Mar. 7, 2008
I've changed it around slightly to suit me and when taking it to work, I'd get people hovering around my office as the aromas would seep out and down the hallways.... it's filling and yummy

Poppy Seed and Banana Muffins

Reviewed: Mar. 12, 2002
I thought this turned out really well. Instead of putting into muffin tins, I made it like a cake in a large pan and cut into squares. It was moist and rich (though for some reason didn't rise a whole lot) but that didn't matter. It was perfect in little squares. It's not sweet.. just right and would make a nice thing for guests. Not being a banana lover, it didn't 'reek' of bananas.. it was just right! Thank you for sharing!

Quebec Sugar Pie

Reviewed: Dec. 19, 2001
A agree with the previous review right down to in the fridge a couple of days later when mine finally hardened too. Mine never got 'hard' either. It was very sloppy.. the flavour was there.. a beautiful flavour but it was runny and 'syrupy'. I think I'll try cutting down on 'runny' ingredients the next time to see if it works.

Absolutely the Best Chocolate Chip Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 19, 2001
I just used the imitation extract and the crisco golden shortening and it turned out fab. I like a crisp chocolate chip cookie... I like chocolate period! hehehe! And for Christmas, instead of adding the chocolate chips, I took the new chocolate dark buds in the willow pack and dropped them into the centre after I dropped it on the pan and molded the batter around it. They turned out looking great and tasting great!

Boston Baked Beans

Reviewed: Nov. 23, 2001
Never having made baked beans and not really having a clue how to make them, the recipe did not call for adding water while they were baking in the oven. CHECK AND ADD WATER or something!!!! I didn't and the beans.. the ones that weren't burnt to a crisp had a decidedly smokey taste and that was only after the minimum time in the oven. Doh! So remember.. if you've never made them like I hadn't.. check and add water.. very very important!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Have a great day!

Cinnamon Cookies II

Reviewed: Sep. 22, 2001
This is just about the easiest cookie recipe!! Unfortunately my mixer broke, so I whipped this up by hand and I think it was as quick if not quicker without the mixer! It's a real winner in our home both with ease and time and makes a ton of yummy cookies! (Though I must admit, I do add a tiny bit more cinnamon!!!! I just love the stuff!)Thank you Mellan for sharing this recipe!

Jeera Fried Rice

Reviewed: Feb. 10, 2001
This is actually quite a yummy recipe although I changed it slightly while making it - I chopped the onions until almost a mash (as my child doesn't like them) and left them in so they were hidden while the other things were also cooking and added more black peppercorns. It turned out really well!!! And my son who turns his nose up at a lot of new things really liked it too. Thank you Moomal for putting it up on allrecipes.com
