French Apple Tart (Tarte de Pommes a la Normande)

Reviewed: Jan. 9, 2008
This is a beautiful and tasty tart. I just used my own pie crust recipe, and like others used the almond extract because i didn't have the brandy. I sliced my apples very thin- turned out delicious and served with vanilla bean ice cream.

Stephen's Chocolate Chip Cookies

Reviewed: Oct. 29, 2005
A perfect cookie base! I only used one kind of chips, and tossed in some oatmeal instead of nuts. The base of this cookie is so great, you can add whatever fixins' you like and still have it work out. Delicious!

Blueberry Sour Cream Coffee Cake

Reviewed: Aug. 22, 2005
DON'T do what I did, and hesitate to use the brown sugar mixture. I thought maybe i'd just want a simple blueberry cake, but then I caved, and thought I should follow the recipe exactly as it should be. I'm so glad I did!! The brown sugar mixture adds a hint of caramel flavor, and I used almonds because I'm a dork and started the recipe without checking to see if I had pecans :-) Unbelievably moist, we gobbled it without even the powdered sugar on top.

Blueberry Pie

Reviewed: Jul. 29, 2005
A very delicious pie! I followed a bunch of other reviews and used 5 TB. cornstarch, it wasn't runny at all, you just have to let it set for a good few hours before eating. I also added a bit of vanilla (just for the hey of it), and changed the baking times. I did 25 min. at 400, and about 45 min. at 350, covering the edges with foil the first half of baking. It wasn't too sour at all, in fact, my berries must have been sweet because I would have liked it a bit more sour!

Chicken Florentine Casserole

Reviewed: Jan. 22, 2005
Really good! We used cut chicken tenders to allow more of a casserole scoop than a huge piece of chicken. We also used jarred crushed garlic, and real pre-cooked bacon instead of the fake bits. Next time I'll add a little white wine to the sauce and use more mushrooms. Delicious!

Bunny Cookies

Reviewed: Apr. 9, 2001
Delicious and fast sugar cookie! The orange flavor is yummy- i put orange cream frosting on mine and cut them thicker to make them softer. My dough ended up being too dry, so I just kept adding orange juice until I could roll them out!

Baked Lemon Chicken with Mushroom Sauce

Reviewed: Apr. 24, 2001
Superb mushroom sauce- key is tons of mushrooms. I thought the plain chicken with just lemon would be bland, but it tasted wonderful with the sauce. I will definitely make this again.

Linda's Awesome Brownies

Reviewed: Jun. 13, 2004
I thought these were great. I was worried when people said they weren't that chocolatey, so i threw in about 1 c. mini choc. chips. They taste delicious, and the texture is perfect. Not too gooey/fudgy, and not too dry/cakey. A happy medium. I will put some frosting on next time for fun. yummy stuff.

Uncle Mac's Peanut Butter and Jelly Cookies

Reviewed: May 9, 2001
very yummy!! Make sure you have cold milk nearby, and a quick tip-Don't let their initial softness deceive you! If overcook too much they turn to very crunchy cookies. The last batch seemed mushy, but firmed to perfection!!

Crispy Rhubarb Pie

Reviewed: Jul. 31, 2003
Fabulous pie. I've never done rhubarb without berries before, so I was hesitant. It tasted great, and the topping is one I will use on other pies in the future. I used some extra corn flakes because I like lots of crispiness with my crumble topping. Tasty.

Banana Coconut Loaf

Reviewed: May 30, 2001
Very delicious! I added extra cherries and used pecans instead of walnuts. The extract makes it taste more like cake than bread- next time I may also try coconut flavor like the other reviewer.

Zucchini Cream Pie

Reviewed: Aug. 30, 2001
So, why is there zucchini in this?? Tastes like a caramelly pecan pie to me- maybe you could use peaches or something instead. So yummy!! A great recipe to use up zucchini when you're sick of zucchini- you'll never know its there.

I used the fresh spinach, strawberries, and toasted my slivered almonds. To make it fast I used Briannas strawberry vinaigrette and added orange juice to it---absolutely delicious.

Grilled Portobello and Mozzarella

Very tasty...I just grilled them on the stovetop first, and used fresh mozzarella. I put the whole thing on a roll for a sandwich, and it turned out great. I'll make these again.

Empanadas

Reviewed: May 17, 2003
These little dessert cookies disappeared faster than the main course. I rolled them extremely thin, but next time I might make them a bit thicker. I used raspberry pie filling instead of jam (tastier), and rolled them in cinnamon and sugar right out of the oven (used a spoon so i didn't get burned). I'd like to try the dough with a savory filling next. Excellent.

Mexican Wedding Cakes II

Reviewed: May 17, 2003
Unbelievably easy, and they just melt in your mouth. I made mine a bit smaller so they were more bite size, and used half pecans and half walnuts. I also piled them in a bowl with a linen instead of individual cupcake liners, it was another fun way to display them. yumyum.

Rhubarb Stir Cake

Reviewed: Jul. 31, 2003
Mmmm...I served warm with vanilla bean ice-cream. I think it would work with fresh peaches or apples too. The batter is different than what I thought - i had to use beaters, just stirring didn't cut it. It turned out yummy though.
