Easy Batter Fruit Cobbler

Reviewed: Jul. 16, 2006
Easy and very delicious. I used nectarines and freshly pitted cherries, doubled the recipe for a 9x13 dish. It's a "cakey" cobbler, not a "biscuit" cobbler. I added nutmeg, cinnamon, and vanilla to the batter. Next time I'm going to use all fresh blueberries. Yum!

Sour Cream Apple Pie Deluxe

Reviewed: Apr. 22, 2003
This was a yummy pie! While making it I realized the container I had in the fridge was plain yogurt, not sour cream! I used the yogurt, and the pie still turned out delicious! I ended up baking it at least an extra half hour after the topping was on- because I was unsure about the yogurt, and the top wasn't browning. It didn't brown, just got crunchy, and the pie turned out great.

Grilled Portobello and Mozzarella

Reviewed: Jul. 10, 2003
Very tasty...I just grilled them on the stovetop first, and used fresh mozzarella. I put the whole thing on a roll for a sandwich, and it turned out great. I'll make these again.

Zucchini Soup I

Reviewed: Aug. 4, 2003
Quite good! I halved everything, used fresh herbs without measuring, didn't even use the potato flakes or dill weed. I used a bit of 2% milk, and added a little extra pepper, salt, and garlic powder. Only blend half the soup to keep some yummy chunks, grated cheddar on the top and loaf of french bread. Even the kids ate it!

Coconut (Haupia) and Chocolate Pie

Reviewed: Feb. 21, 2001
People need to make this!! It was so good, the layers are beautiful when cut, and it was surprisingly light! Next time I may use a little bit less chocolate because I love the cocunut so much! Bravo!

Pam's Bierocks

Reviewed: May 28, 2001
very tasty- a perfect lunch or dinner served with a cold german potato salad! The recipe sounds hard, but is actually very easy to do. The dough comes out perfectly, and I will try a different filling next time! I used fast rise yeast.

Crispy Rhubarb Pie

Reviewed: Jul. 31, 2003
Fabulous pie. I've never done rhubarb without berries before, so I was hesitant. It tasted great, and the topping is one I will use on other pies in the future. I used some extra corn flakes because I like lots of crispiness with my crumble topping. Tasty.

White Velvet Cake II

Reviewed: Mar. 10, 2007
The only good thing I can say about this cake is that the flavor is good.(a bit like a sweet cornbread) Turned quite brown in the oven, flattened, and although it's moist it's the greasiest cake I have ever eaten! Maybe some of you will have better luck.

Blueberry Sour Cream Coffee Cake

Reviewed: Aug. 22, 2005
DON'T do what I did, and hesitate to use the brown sugar mixture. I thought maybe i'd just want a simple blueberry cake, but then I caved, and thought I should follow the recipe exactly as it should be. I'm so glad I did!! The brown sugar mixture adds a hint of caramel flavor, and I used almonds because I'm a dork and started the recipe without checking to see if I had pecans :-) Unbelievably moist, we gobbled it without even the powdered sugar on top.

Pineapple Scones

Reviewed: Mar. 9, 2003
Bake just until done, like a cake. They are then just like soft cookies, and I put frosting on mine! I couldn't taste any of the coconut- mostly orange, so maybe a little coconut extract next time. Very easy- i'll try some flavor variations next time.

Hawaiian Millionaire Pie

Reviewed: Nov. 18, 2002
Not bad for a frozen whipped topping pie. I doubled the cherries and used more pineapple. The ingredients can be changed to reflect any flavor, and next time i won't use a crust, just put it in dessert dishes.

Bunny Cookies

Reviewed: Apr. 9, 2001
Delicious and fast sugar cookie! The orange flavor is yummy- i put orange cream frosting on mine and cut them thicker to make them softer. My dough ended up being too dry, so I just kept adding orange juice until I could roll them out!

Pineapple Cream Pie

Reviewed: Feb. 10, 2001
A yummy unique twist on plain cream pie, and the almond in the cream is a great idea. Tasty..but don't forget the no tasting rule!! IF you taste it while cooking and then use the same spoon to stir again, a cream pie WON'T SET. (it's a saliva enzyme thing)

Orange Cookies

Reviewed: Nov. 3, 2007
These were yummy cookies. Not sure if there was an altitude situation or I just used too much liquid, but the first bunch of cookies were flat as pancakes (still soft though). So I added extra flour to stiffen up the batter, and they were puffy and wonderful. Nice use of extra buttermilk.

Perfect Flourless Orange Cake

Reviewed: Oct. 10, 2004
I also wondered if maybe there was an ingredient missing. And because you use the entire orange, the cake tasted a bit orange peelish/bitter. Very moist....good with whipped cream....but something not quite right.

Sugar Cream Pie III

Reviewed: Feb. 10, 2001
Definitely quick, easy, and very yummy. I wonder though if it would work the same if you had a pre-cooked crust, and just boiled it on the stove top until thick, poured it in, and let it set.

Lemon Chiffon Pudding

Reviewed: Mar. 17, 2003
Not quite what I had expected- it had a nice tart taste, but I think I put it in too shallow of a dish. It seemed to be done cooking early.

Asparagus Lasagna

Reviewed: Feb. 23, 2003
Used thawed frozen asparagus tips, didn't have thyme so used a lot of other spices (basil, oreg., rosemary). Added some italian flavor stewed tomatoes with a little juice, and even used the oven-ready dry lasagna noodles. We loved it!

Cranberry Streusel Pie

Reviewed: Oct. 28, 2002
Very tart, but good anyway. I used pecans instead of walnuts and it tasted good anyway. Sweeten it up by serving with ice cream or whipped cream. I also chopped the berries.

Tomato-Mushroom Soup

Reviewed: Aug. 30, 2001
Delicious and refined. The small amount of wine really adds to it, even if you boil out the alcohol. Would be excellent with a red meat dish.I will definitely make this again.
