The Best Meatballs

Reviewed: Mar. 7, 2008
These are better than my mom's recipe. I used lamb mince instead of the veal and sharp cheddar instead of Romano- I live in New Zealand and it is easier to come by. They really are fantastic.

Creme Brulee French Toast

Reviewed: Jan. 7, 2010
You'll have to watch yourself with this recipe, it is dangerous. So easy to make and what a delicious treat. I made this for Christmas brunch and every single person went back for seconds, even when they were too full to eat any more!

Quick Biscuits

Reviewed: Jul. 3, 2008
Diane Hixon, you're my hero. These biscuits have made my life and budget so much simpler. My husband is a bread fanatic and we just don't have Bisquick or instant biscuits where I live, THANKS!!! I made this as a bread topping as is for a casserole and also to accompany soup- just added some sauteed onion and cheese for variety.

Rhubarb and Strawberry Pie

Reviewed: Jan. 8, 2010
Wow! I haven't had such a tasty pie in a long time. The recipe is so simple all you can taste is the fruit. I took Alessandra's advice and I will be making this pie again if my rhubarb crop grows vigorously enough before strawberry season finishes.

Easy Mint Chocolate Chip Ice Cream

Reviewed: Dec. 30, 2007
Mint choco chip ice cream is nearly impossible to come by in New Zealand, where I live and it is my favorite by far, so when I got an ice cream maker for Christmas I knew the most important recipe to find was this. I actually put in 3/4 cup of sugar and it is fantastic!

Tastes just like Stove Top(R) stuffing! I was very pleased.

Ma Lipo's Apricot-Glazed Turkey with Roasted Onion and Shallot Gravy

Reviewed: Dec. 4, 2007
I'd never made Thanksgiving dinner before this year and this recipe was clear, easy to follow and yielded a DELICIOUS turkey. Many of my guests were not big fans of turkey and they said that this juicy, flavorful turkey changed their minds- so much so I've been invited to make it again for Christmas!

Mack's Tunaburgers

Reviewed: Mar. 7, 2008
will add Worcestershire sauce net time, the teryaki flavour was too clear four our liking, but there was definitely no tuna taste. I was told to make them again by meat- loving husband.

Spaghetti Sauce II

Reviewed: Mar. 7, 2008
I had all recipes multiply this recipe to make enough for 15 and added another can of whole peeled tomatoes and another 1/2 cup red wine and 1 cup of water and as usual nearly doubled the garlic, then added some herbs from my garden and went back in time to mom's kitchen.

Honey Mustard Grilled Chicken

Reviewed: Dec. 30, 2007
A beauty! Let the chicken marinate for a couple of hours in the mixture. I make extra sauce to add separately to blanched green beans and some ziti pasta and serve it cold, with the chicken right off the grill.

Chocolate Mousse Cake I

Reviewed: Sep. 22, 2009
This was really really good, but be warned it is best after being refrigerated for more than a day. I made it for some gluten free friends and couldn't in good conscience serve it when I tasted it after having it refrigerated overnight, but after a full 24 hours in the fridge it was good, but the next day it tasted fantastic, much better with age this one.

Betty's Green Tomato Chutney

Reviewed: Jan. 7, 2010
this was too runny for my liking, so I took a good portion of the liquid off the top before canning and bottled it as a sweet and sour sauce. Turns out that the sweet and sour sauce was the most popular part in my household. However, friends who I shared the chutney with did like it and are hoping I'll make it again if this year's tomato crop doesn't get the chance to ripen before frosts set in.

Lemon Sorbet

too sweet and watery, but has great lemon flavor. We were looking for something that tastes like a frozen lemon.

Rhubarb Cheese Pie

Reviewed: Jan. 7, 2010
This sounded like a good idea at the time, but the rhubarb doesn't get cooked for long enough and the pie goes runny very quickly in the fridge.
