Garlic Lentils with Kale

Reviewed: Sep. 19, 2014
We did like this veggie dish, though did find it needed a few adjustments at least for the locale we live in. I did not think it needed a full cup of olive oil for the onions so just used enough to sweat the onion tip not quite caramelized. And from past experience of cooking lentils here, I have found that 20-30 minutes is sufficient. Overall, this was pretty flavorful and satisfying and glad I found this!!! At the final seasoning, I did add a bit of flaked red pepper for a bit of zing. Thanks for this post, bolshevik

Tropical Quinoa Salsa Salad

Reviewed: Jun. 9, 2014
This is an excellently flavorful fruit salad; full of fresh citrus flavors in a sweet vinaigrette along with cilantro. The variety of fruits and veggies all work together to make your mouth pop! Of course, the longer the salad is refrigerated the better it tastes. It would be just as great with any fruit you might prefer as well. Thanks, Anthony for a great summer salad!!!

Hot and Spicy Stuffed Mushrooms

Reviewed: Apr. 26, 2014
Very tasty appetizer!! Made this for a big crowd and wasn't sure of everyone's tolerance or liking hot jalapeños so I reduced the amount of these to only 2 (could have safely gone with three). After mixing everything together I thought it needed just a bit more seasoning so added a bit of salt and maybe 1/4 teaspoon of cayenne pepper. This took it over the top and everyone loved them! Thanks for a great recipe KristenM1.

Evin's Indian Apricot Chicken

Reviewed: Apr. 26, 2014
Very flavorful not to mention quick and simple to put together. Thought I had some chicken strips in freezer and pulled them out, turned out to be boneless thighs! Cut it all up and tasted wonderful!!! Followed all else in Evin's recipe except used sugarless apricot preserves (reducing to 1/2 cup). Will be using this quite a bit as we love the Indian flavors and spice. Thanks Evin!!!

Beer Braised Irish Stew and Colcannon

Reviewed: Apr. 9, 2014
Very easy to prepare and taste is awesome! Wonderful flavors from beer cooking veggies and meat. For the colcannon, I was in a rush and since just for DH and me, I just used part of a bag of pre-cut coleslaw mix and it worked out great. Will be making this again, specially during March and St. Paddy's Day. Thanks for the rec

Karen's Cranberry Apple Sweet Potato Packet

I did sub fresh cranberries for dried ones; did not need additional sugar for our taste. This is a great flavor combination and will be using this one over and over!

Moist Cranberry Orange Bread

Reviewed: Dec. 26, 2013
Very moist and flavorful bread! Although I did sub yogurt for sour cream I don't think it altered texture or flavor too much. Also, this is the first cranberry bread recipe with the berries scattered on top with sugar sprinkle and that really made it taste over the top! Thinking I'll toss other c'berry bread recs and stick to this one, so thanks for the post zeta724

Farro, apple and pecan salad

Reviewed: Dec. 9, 2013
Really great flavor combination; only change I would make next time is not to sauté apples but leave them crunchy. Excellent salad and very much enjoyed this.

Crab and Swiss Quiche

Reviewed: Nov. 18, 2013
Had some imitation crab leftover that needed to be used up and this was a great choice! Excellent flavor and so creamy. I did add some chopped sweet onion, sweet orange peppers, a bit of chopped fresh spinach and a bit of Old Bay seasoning. This will be a regular dish for us, especially during the cold winter months. Thanks for this rec!

Caramelized Spicy Pumpkin Seeds

Reviewed: Nov. 18, 2013
These had a very good combination of flavors and came out pretty good, but think it could have used a little butter or moisture to hold the sugar/seasoning better. Will make them again with modifications suggested including brown sugar. Thoroughly enjoyed the sweetness compared to the usual salt flavor. Thanks for this rec!

Moroccan Semolina Soup with Milk, Anise Seeds, and Honey

Reviewed: Oct. 22, 2013
This has a great flavor combination with the spice and length of simmering the semolina. I did not add any honey or other sweetener cuz it had its own sweet taste! I briefly thought about not using as much milk as stated, but put it all in anyhow. It was a bit thin so next time I'll decrease it a little bit. All in all, I'm very much liking this and will be using it again, maybe adding some dried fruit in too.! Thanks a lot, Wbolesnyc, for this post!

Vanilla Banamango Smoothie

Reviewed: Aug. 28, 2013
This deserves 5++!! I reversed the frozen fruit cuz had mango frozen already and used fresh banana. Followed all else as directed and it is so refreshing and tasty-very thick and smooth! Would also be great to put into a popsicle mold to freeze for hot summers; whatever way we will be making this often. Thanks for this post, Ecco_Star, but it's greeeeeaaaaat, lol

Easy Portuguese Kale Soup

Reviewed: Jul. 14, 2013
I was debating between another recipe and this one and am very pleased on choosing this one! Although I did make a couple minor changes, it did not alter the basic flavors that the creator intended, therefore the high rating. Did cut back on the amount of pepper called for, no potatoes on hand so that was omitted, and finally thought a little additional flavor would enhance the broth so i added a small amount of dried crushed rosemary. Will be using this one again for sure!

Peach Banana Smoothie

Reviewed: Jun. 9, 2013
This smoothie is a pretty good combination of flavors with the fruit; we used vanilla yogurt and I added a sprinkle of cinnamon for a little more flavor. It could have been a little thicker, though; maybe freezing the banana chunks before blending. Also, it was sweet enough as is, did not add any sugar since we're cutting back on sugars except for the occasional splurge! Will try it again.

Spicy Black Bean Cakes

Reviewed: May 28, 2013
Been wanting to try a vegetarian burger for awhile and this one really hit it! Fast and easy to mix together, but it did need a little more heat to spice it up. I added some chili powder and a bit of pickled jalapeño as well. And the sour cream sauce really took it over the top; I did add some very finely minced lime zest to the sauce too. Will be using this quite often!

Spaghetti Carbonara II

Reviewed: Dec. 4, 2012
Needed something really quick for just myself tonight and though I didn't have any bacon on hand this carbonara has some excellent flavor! I took advice of previous reviewer and mixed the parm in with the beaten egg before adding to noodles, also added a splash or two of white wine (Chardonnay). Will make again when DH is home, including the bacon! Thanks for a great tasting and quick dinner!

Great flavor on this sauce; I did add a small piece of cinnamon stick as it cooked down which added a bit of spice to it. Will be using this regularly. Thanks Liz!
