My Grandaughter
About this Cook
Lets see - I'm a grandma - shes my photo cuz shes too cute! Breast Cancer survivor since 10/94 I love to cook & bake. Married forever (ok only 40 years)lol
My favorite things to cook
Soups, stews & different kinds of breads. I love learning new dishes & perfecting older family recipes. By perfecting some I try to lighten up a bit, but not to much
My favorite family cooking traditions
Thanksgiving dinner, starting on Tues. so the stock has time to blend flavors, pies, and bread doughs on Wed., just tons of good home cooked foods!
My cooking triumphs
Learning to cook all the Puerto Rican foods my husband grew up with. Thanks to my incredible mom (in law) Carmen it was not as hard as I thought it would be! She kept telling me its ok its not hard & you're a smart girl. She was right it wasn't that hard at all. And she gave me confidence to learn to cook anything, no matter how intricate!
My cooking tragedies
Pie crust, you could pave a street with it.

Bill's Sausage Gravy
I made no changes & it turned out fabulous - every one loved the slightly maple- y flavor & I had no leftovers!! Even the picky eater loved it!!

Delicious Ham and Potato Soup
Even my husband loved it & he is not a fan of potato soup! Since the ham & bone I had on hand was salty I omitted the salt. I added 1/2 ground fresh sage awesome!! This is a keeper

Jambalaya
This is the best recipe for Jambalaya ever! I have made it twice now and got raves both times. Its a new Superbowl day staple here. I added 1 boneless skinless thigh cut up in addition to the breasts and it was fantastic!
