About this Cook
I started cooking a few years ago when I discovered the Food Network from my sister, who was already becoming a fabulous cook. Me and my sister made several fake cooking shows when we were growing up and still today. Cooking is the most enjoyable thing I have ever done, and it is the only thing I have energy to do at the end of a hard day at work.
My favorite things to cook
Stir fry, grilled chicken, and PASTA! especially chicken picatta!
My favorite family cooking traditions
Thanksgiving at my house has always been a treat. That is where I first discovered spaetzle and chicken paprika, my German heritage, and probably my favorite dish ever. I love baking Christmas cookies with my grandma, mom and sister also.
My cooking triumphs
My boyfriend told me the other night, "wow honey, you're starting to be a really great cook". Hearing things like that make me happier than anything!
My cooking tragedies
Oh boy, where do I start. I think 3 out of 5 times that I cook, something flies through the air and onto the wall or ground. I think my worst time was when I was getting a pot out of the cabinet, and the lid fell and shattered my glass cutting board into a million pieces all around my bare feet. I've used a bamboo cutting board ever since!

Mama's Asian Chicken and Rice
This was absolutely AMAZING. I doubled the sauce like most people did, which is the only reason for the missing star. I didn't have Chinese five-spice powder, or orange peel. Also, The only vinegar I had was "white balsamic". I used a lot more cornstarch/water - until it was basically as thick as it is at the Chinese restaurants. This was a HIT!!!! SO EASY!
