Old-Fashioned Peach Cream Pie

I doubled the recipe to make two pies and baked both at the same time. I followed the directions step-by-step, but I was a little short on sour cream, so I probably only put about a cup-and-a-half of sour cream in them. I also used about 12 fresh peaches (6 peaches per pie). While baking the first 42 mins., I covered the edges of the pie crust. I followed Trinity's Mom's suggestion and added some oats to the topping. The pies were out of the oven for 15-20 mins. while I prepared the topping and upped the temp. to 400 degrees again, and when I put them back in the oven I uncovered the edges for the last 10 mins., then turned the oven off and let them sit in the oven for another 10 mins. They were perfect; not runny at all. I cooled them for about 40 mins. and then covered them and put them in the fridge to chill, and they were delicious!! Thanks for a great recipe!!

Awesome Grilled Cheese Sandwiches

Great way to make lots of grilled-cheese sandwiches at the same time. They go great with a pot of chicken corn soup. I lost track of how many my son-in-law ate. We loved them with the cheddar cheese, as I always used Amercian cheese in the past.

Sam's Famous Carrot Cake

I made this for my daughter's birthday, and it was very good. I used two round pans and sliced both layers after the cake was baked so I would have a 4-layer cake and iced it with cream cheese icing. The only thing I will do different next time is to bake it 10-15 minutes less. I checked my oven and the temperature was correct.

Turkey Wild Rice Soup II

Ummmm...really good!! I made broth from our left-over Thanksgiving turkey and also added our left-over gravy. Other than that, I followed the recipe as written but used 3 packages of the 90-second Uncle Ben's microwave wild and brown rice (...microwaved it before adding). Delicious!! It was a hit with our family and guests!!

Slow Cooker Italian Beef for Sandwiches

I have made these several times for family and friends. Each time I use two pot roasts just so we'll have enough!! As per other comments I use, beef broth rather than water and an extra pkg. of Italian-style salad dressing. I also saw a recipe in one of my cookbooks that was very similar to this one that said to put in a package of brown gravy, so I do that also. Very good!! I butter and toast the rolls, then top them with the meat and provolone cheese and put them under the broiler for just a minute to melt the cheese and put the extra gravy in a serving pitcher on the side. This is an easy dish to make and always a hit! Thank you, Maureen!!

Too Much Chocolate Cake

Luscious Slush Punch

This punch is delicious!! Very pretty too. It was a big hit at my daughter's baby shower today. We had about 50 people and I had tripled the recipe, so I brought six 1 gallon baggies of punch with me, and we used four, so doubling it for a party of 50 was perfect. I took the advice of others and cut the sugar in half, and it was perfect. The strawberries in the punch were really good too. Yum!! This is my favorite punch recipe ever. I would give it 10 stars if I could. Thank you so much!!

Chocolate Fudge Cupcakes with Peanut Butter Frosting

My daughter and I made these for her to take to summer camp. We added an extra egg, filled the cupcake papers 3/4 full, put the tbsp. of chocolate chips in the middle and pushed them down a little with a spoon and baked them for 24 mins. They were great; a perfect consistency!! I guess the extra egg helped! The melted chocolate chips made a nice little surprise in the center. The icing was really good too. We used cream cheese icing and added the peanut butter; also added a tsp. of milk to soften the icing a little as per Cookie Queen's suggestion. Thank you for a great recipe!

Chicken With Mushrooms

Wow! This was really good! I used a boiling chicken and just cut it into bite-sized pieces, sauteed the mushrooms, then added some of the chicken broth and a couple of cans of cream of mushroom soup and stirred it in with a couple of pounches of 90 second microwave brown & wild rice. I bought sliced mozzarella cheese and forgot to top it, but it was still really good. Very quick and easy too. I'm sure the mozzarella would have enhanced it even more. Will be making this again!! Thank you!

German Chocolate Cake III

Loved this cake; however, it did stick to the pans!! The icing was sticky enough that I could icing the layers back together and no one knew the difference! No need to change the recipe or add anything, but the icing does need to cool first, and give it at least an hour in the fridge. Do make an extra half recipe of icing and toast the coconut and pecans! I do think that next time I will take the advice of others and put the can pans in the freezer for an hour before attempting to remove them from the pans since "it doesn't dry out the cake, and the layers will pop right out if you use a hot wet cloth on the bottom of the pans", so why not? Delicious cake!! Thank you, Dean!!

The Cake That Doesn't Last

I made this cake last night (exactly as written, only without nuts) and put 'The Last Cream Cheese Frosting Recipe You'll Truly Ever Need' on it and gave it to a friend today, and she gave me a slice to bring home. Yum!! The cake is delicious, and the icing adds even more to it. I think it will be even better the next time I make it if I add walnuts (and maybe a little extra crushed pineapple or chopped apples??) I can't wait to make another one of these! Lemon Sponge Pie I

This is a recipe my dad gave me this week that my great grandmother used to make. The only difference is her recipe only called for two eggs & egg yokes and 1 cup of sugar, so if you don't have enough eggs, don't fret, it works with just two!! I made it with only two eggs and used an extra deep pie shell which I really didn't need to do. Next time I'll try it with four eggs. It really is a delicious pie and very very easy to make. I couldn't believe it used so few ingredients and turned out so nice. It looks very liquidy when you pour it into the shell, but it sets nicely as it cooks. I can see where it gets the name "Lemon Sponge Pie" as it is deliciously lemony tasting, custardy on the bottom and very spongey on top. We really enjoyed it.

Baked Pineapple Casserole

I double the recipe and only use 1/2 cup sugar for a 12 serving-sized casserole, because the pineapple juice sweetens it also. I also add two slices of bread. Make sure to cut your bread in small cubes. It's delicious cold too, like a dessert! Thank you Cheryl!!

Best Ever Rugelach

I was afraid these were going to be too sweet, but they were perfect!! I make the recipe exactly as written but without the orange marmalade. These are more like a pastry than a cookie. My daughter who normally doesn't like nuts or raisins loved them!! She suggested I try making them using chocolate chips...This might work with chocolate chips, coconut and walnuts...hummm??? Thank you for a great recipe, Sandy!!
