I am an oil painter. I went to college for Landscape Management but only use it to help my husband with his business. Since I work when I want to I have the liberty of cooking things that take a long time. I am very blessed and rather happy.
My favorite things to cook
I love to smoke foods on my Chargriller. I have the smoker box so in the summer I love to take a whole day to make a superb meal. I also love to make meals out of salads using interesting combinations. I love everything from down home cooking to world foods. I also like to play with contemporary takes on traditional meals. And, I am not a food snob so I like to even make BLTs with chips.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My family had a tradition of making Linguine with hazelnuts and roasted garlic in a Parmesan and balsamic vinegar dressing on Christmas eve. It was so wonderful. Now, my husband and I have a tradition of making sauerkraut balls on New Year's eve. Someone posted the exact recipe for them on here. They are so naughty but soooooo good.
My cooking triumphs
My amended Caesar salad for friends who can't handle the raw egg/anchovies combo. Though, I can't claim that the croûtons were my doing, but I did perfect the method of making them. I really should post these recipe.
My cooking tragedies
OMG! I tried to make Chicken Rendang while chatting on yahoo with my friend Michele. Bad idea. It burnt badly and was so gross. DO NOT chat and cook.
