About this Cook
I am a busy wife and mother of 2. I work an 8-5 office job during the week and spend most of my weekends chainsaw carving (well...when the weather cooperates... I guess you could call me a fair-weather carver. I am not hard-core). But anyway, I absolutely looooooooove to cook, bake, grill, etc.! If I had the time and money (and if my family would eat it), I would cook gourmet dinners for them every single night and love every minute of it. However due to time constraints and the 50 million things that need to get done every evening before bedtime and the fact that my family will not wait to eat until 8pm, I have to come up with recipes that are not only delish, but also quick and easy. One of my favorite things to make is dessert. I love it when I make a new recipe that my husband ends up loving. He's a little on the picky side (but then again, he says I should be glad about that, because he "picked me and he's really picky" and ... I guess I'll take that as a compliment!)
My favorite things to cook
Grilled vegies, turkey dinner, brownies, cheesecake, pasta, salad, and lo-carb/lowfat
My favorite family cooking traditions
Making a big breakfast on Saturday morning - whether it's omlets, waffles, pancakes or french toast - I love to cook it all. There's just something about making breakfast for other people on the weekend - I love it!!!
My cooking triumphs
Making Thanksgiving dinner for my family the last 2 years - both times, it turned out fabulous. And also the time that I made the Guinness Chocolate Cheesecake (from this site) for my hubby's b-day ---- with stunning results. I even surprised myself. Next year, he is really in for it...
My cooking tragedies
When I was trying to make a delicate white wine cream sauce, I accidentally added white wine vinegar instead of white wine. The cream cheese got all curdled. Wasn't exactly what I was envisioning....
