Easy Ice Cream Cake

Reviewed: Jan. 6, 2013
The biggest hit of the Christmas Eve dinner! With the huge array of cookies and desserts, everyone spent their time eating this ice cream cake. Followed advice of others and mixed the whipped cream with softened vanilla ice cream. Drizzled simple chocolate syrup on top... and presto! The perfect all-season dessert. My new favorite non-baked dessert!

Joy's Prizewinning Trifle

Reviewed: Aug. 15, 2011
Great recipe for a basic trifle - any combination of fruits will work. I served this at a summer cookout and it disappeared! Everyone gave 5star reviews; but my own children were more honest: they loved it, but all of them suggested that next time, I leave out the bananas. The flavor is too overpowering and almost ruined the freshness of the summer berries. I would suggest saving your bananas to use in making a banana trifle.

Roast Sticky Chicken-Rotisserie Style

Reviewed: Jul. 20, 2011
Excellent! I followed the recipe as is and found that my family completely prefers this recipe to store-bought rotisserie chickens. Very easy, and so versatile... you will soon have your own signature recipe with this one.

Sopapilla Cheesecake Dessert

Reviewed: Mar. 5, 2011
I was so surprised at how amazing this dessert is! I was influenced by the reviews and high ratings given to this creation. I will definitely make it again, but I will make these improvements in the topping: 1/2c butter is too much. 1/4 will work well. 1/2c sugar, again, is overkill. The delicious dessert becomes too sweet, and the sugar masks all the wonderful flavors of the cheesecake. I used less than 1/4c of sugar, and the topping baked wonderfully. I still had a light, crispy, sweet crust. Wonderful, wonderful dessert! Rave reviews from your guests are guaranteed!

Baked Parmesan Perch

Reviewed: Mar. 5, 2011
Good, easy recipe. Try brushing the fillets with olive oil instead of butter. If you do have leftovers, they taste excellent when the original fish was not brushed with butter. Simple and delicious.

Crispy Green Beans with Horseradish-Wasabi Dip

Reviewed: Mar. 5, 2011
Excellent! I tried these for the first time at TGIFridays and wondered if I could find a comparable recipe on this site... I found one that's even better! Thanks for the great recipe!

Cake Balls

Reviewed: Jan. 29, 2011
My children give this a 5 star rating! Most adults commented that it's just too sweet of a treat. As the one who followed this recipe and made these cake balls, I can tell you that it was a very messy undertaking. I followed the suggestions of fellow reviewers, but even so, it was a mess. I'll stick to fudge and truffles from now on!

White Chocolate Fudge Cake

Reviewed: Jan. 24, 2011
Delicious cake. The additions make this box cake taste like a home made bakery cake. I will OMIT the layer of "fudge" between the cake and the frosting. It ruins the overall flavor, and does not share the smooth, velvety consistency of the rest of the cake. The frosting is delicious as well.

Chocolate Mice

Reviewed: Dec. 13, 2010
I brought this to a children's Halloween party, and these little mice were the favorite treat of the night! I'm certain that other bakers slaved over their creations... not me! This was easy to make, fun for my children and me to prepare, tasty to eat, and fabulous to look at! I read reviews and made caramel tails. Try it, because what the reviewers say is true: everyone will be most impressed with the life-life tails!

Cranberry Sauce I

Reviewed: Dec. 13, 2010
Oh my yumminess! I will NEVER buy canned, packaged or prepared cranberry sauce again. This was fantastic. I had no idea making cranberry sauce was this easy. The orange juice is the perfect compliment to the cranberries. (I've noticed many recipes calling for orange zest rather than orange juice.) Excellent.

Broiled Scallops

Reviewed: Dec. 13, 2010
Lacked flavor. I don't tend to over-season seafood because I want to taste the seafood... but following this recipe as written results in a bland, boring dish. Easy and simple for a dinner for my husband and myself, but I would not serve this to guests.

Slow Cooked Corned Beef for Sandwiches

Reviewed: Dec. 13, 2010
I will agree that this is a tasty recipe. I followed the given recipe and everyone loved it. The reason I am rating this with only 3 stars is because of the taste of the leftovers. The garlic flavor was so much stronger that it was unappealing. The texture of the meat was not appetizing. I always make more than I expect to serve for dinner because the leftovers make such delicious sandwiches. Such is not the case with this particular recipe.

Zucchini Parmesan

Reviewed: Sep. 20, 2010
I found, as others did, that the dish was very watery... more like zucchini soup rather than something comparable to eggplant parmesan. It was very good tasting, but if you're looking for a lasagna-like way to serve zucchini, this is not the recipe you want to use.

Iced Coffee Slush

Reviewed: Aug. 30, 2010
This was excellent! I followed suggestions, and reduced the amount of sugar to 3/4 cup. I used 3 cups of vanilla creamer and 3 cups of 2%milk. To serve, I added some ice cubes and a shot of hot coffee to the slush in a blender. Top with your choice of cream and flavoring. Truly a hit at my party - one guest suggested that for her birthday, we skip the cake and just put a candle on this drink! Delicious!

Ginger Veggie Stir-Fry

Reviewed: Aug. 24, 2010
Excellent. I paired this recipe the the Sesame Noodles recipe on this website (by scoopnana). I had leftovers of both dishes, and the next day I mixed them together - it was better then eating them separately. I highly suggest pairing the two - make each as directed, and combine for a lovely flavor and a more filling meal that both you and your family.guests will love!

Sesame Noodles

Reviewed: Aug. 24, 2010
EXCELLENT!!!! SO much better than store bought or restaurant noodles! Honestly, this is wonderful, and wonderfully easy! I used stir-fry oil that I had on hand in place of the other oils, and I loved it. I also chose to use rice pasta (purchased in the Asian section of our supermarket) rather than linguine noodles. Simply excellent. I will make this again and again and again!

English Trifle

Reviewed: Aug. 24, 2010
Very good. I prefer to use berries only. I also add shaved white chocolate atop the cream layer. I prefer to make homemade whipped cream rather than to use store bought cool whip. It's a very rich and decadent dessert, so the more you control the sweetness and the richness of it, the better it will be.

Puffs

Reviewed: Aug. 24, 2010
This was just 'okay'. I prefer the simpler, more basic recipe for the filling... cream cheese should be the only cheese; the jalapenos and garlic should be replaced with water chestnuts, and add your choice of seasons and spices. A bit too much for a 'basic' recipe. Less is better in this already rich appetizer.
