I'm married to my best friend Rod. I love to lap swim, landscape, grow vegetables & flowers in our English cottage garden, travel & spend time with friends & family. I love to create things with my hands using all of my senses.
My favorite things to cook
Soups, breads, pastas and simple dishes using fresh ingredients with lots of herbs & spices. I love to grow our own fresh fruits & vegetables & then can, dehydrate, freeze & preserve them for the winter months.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Old fashioned, home cooking using fresh ingredients, fruits, vegetables, herbs & spices that have been preferably grown on our own land or locally.
My cooking triumphs
Having people tell me I'm the best cook that they know and that I do with in a very healthy way without heavy creams, fats, sugars and the things that are bad for you, yet are easy to make things taste good. I grow a lot of fruits & vegetables & also pick other produce locally, then can & preserve them myself which is becoming a lost art like bread making, cooking everything from scratch as well as textiles such as knitting, crocheting & sewing.
My cooking tragedies
Smoked salmon quiche. My kind husband blames it on the salmon which he says was "over-smoked" and that's why he said it didn't taste very good.
