Carolina Style Low Carb Barbecue Sauce

Reviewed: Nov. 29, 2011
Wonderful! I didn't have cayenne pepper and just did without. Even without it the sauce was spicy enough for my taste.

Baked Kale Chips

Reviewed: Jan. 4, 2011
Excellent! Even the junk food loving kids like this! I tried different seasonings: Old Bay was pretty good, garlic salt was not too great but my favorite was Parmigiana cheese a bit of "Butter Bud" type buttery sprinkles. As stated elsewhere- you have to watch those cooking times! Well worth the effort though!

Crispy Turnip 'Fries'

Reviewed: Jan. 4, 2011
Me and two kids tried this recipe. We all LOVED it! I cut them thinly to try to get them extra crispy but after cooking them for more than 20 minutes they were still droopy. But still, very very tasty! I didn't use the tablespoon of oil though, instead I sprayed pam into the bag to coat the turnips while going easy on the fat. This was my first time eating turnips. Even if I can never get these fries crispy- this is still a new favorite. Who knew turnips were tasty!

Hot Onion Dip

I made a 1/4 of the recipe and added a clove of elephant garlic (about the size of a head of regular garlic)and a pinch of parsley on top. Absolutely wonderful!

Homesteader Cornbread

Reviewed: Jun. 22, 2008
Great recipe! I used 1/3c dark brown sugar (didn't have light) and 1/3c white sugar as suggested by others. The corn bread was so delicious, and a rich egg yolk color. It did take a good 40+ minutes to bake though-which I'll plan for next time.

Aunt Shirley's Dietetic Pie

This was my first apple pie and my guests really enjoyed it. I did use the cinnamon and nutmeg sparingly to taste. It's a keeper!

Spaghetti with White Clam Sauce

Reviewed: Apr. 9, 2008
I tried it the 'tweaked' way. 1/4cup oil, 1/4 butter, 1/4 wine. I added both cans minced clams with juices. It was amazing with some parmigiana sprinkled on top. It looked and smelled fancy, but was simple!

Local Kine Wontons

Reviewed: Nov. 30, 2007
These were ok. I wonder if lump crab would have pleased me more, but will not use the imitation for this again. I tried this again later using finely chopped shrimp instead and it was received with much enthusiasm by my guests. I served them on a platter with a recipe of 'Sweet and Sour Sauce I' in the middle. Fun, easy, different.

Roasted Garlic Cauliflower

Reviewed: Nov. 30, 2007
As far as cauliflower goes this was great. I added about 1/4c. water to bottom of the pan and loosely covered with foil to avoid burning (which also softened the veggies too). I also tried sprinkling onion soup mix over it, which was delicious. You could do this from scratch with granulated beef boullion, onion powder and onion flakes.

Vegan Brownies

Reviewed: Nov. 30, 2007
I made these for a friend with egg/milk/soy/corn allergies. She was delighted to be able to have this treat, and raved about it. If I make them again I will keep in mind this: at the end of the required cooking time the brownies seemed undercooked. By the time the center seemed done it was infact burnt. I did have some brownies in a seperate pan that friend said were perfect once they say out and cooled. I will trust the recipe next time!

Banana Banana Bread

Reviewed: Nov. 29, 2007
It's moist, dense and full of delicious bananas. With a little spread of salted butter it was a great balance of sweet and salty. Next time I will use walnuts to add more texture. I couldn't be happier with with recipe! Thanks!

Clone of a Cinnabon

Reviewed: Nov. 25, 2007
These are easy and wonderful! The first time I made them I undercooked them. After that I began looking for the center of the rolls to spiral up to take them out of the oven-perfect. Also, I use dental floss to cut the rolls.

We really enjoyed this recipe. I think it will be added to our menu regulary. I used boneless skinless thighs and since I was without parsley tried basil. Yum!
