Szechwan Shrimp

Reviewed: Aug. 9, 2008
Added some cilantro for a fresh twist. Also added some 5 spice powder 1/2 teasp or so - along with the ginger. Next time I'll use fresh shrimp and fresh ginger. Very good, will make again.

Argentine Lentil Stew

Reviewed: Jan. 18, 2009
This was awesome. My daughter is vegan and I'm doing WW so it was a perfect blend! I did 6 servings, used veggie broth and water, as some reviewers suggested, added some cumin & cayenne pepper and extra paprika (I like lots of flavor) and didn't add any salt since the veggie broth supplied plenty. Will make this again and again. My daughters also suggested adding black beans and corn. This recipe is so versitile, you could use all sorts of veggies and spices to customize it to your tastes. Thank you for sharing!

Creamy Crab and Pasta Salad

Reviewed: Jul. 11, 2010
4 1/2 stars. I used fat free mayo and fat free sour cream, dried dill, lemon juice, honey mustard, celery, red pepper, old bay, sweet onion, a bit of milk, sea salt and pepper and whole wheat pasta. I used Phillips special crab meat. I thought it was very good.

Colonial Brown Bread

Reviewed: Jan. 14, 2011
Beyond adding a bit of oatmeal for texture, I stayed true to the recipe. I did cut the portions in half to make one loaf rather than two. Next time I'll add a bit more sugar, some vanilla and some mashed bananas. I think it will make an excellent banana bread!

Beef Stew with Ale

Reviewed: Jan. 14, 2011
Great basic recipe! Made the best beef stew I've ever had. I halved the recipe and added my own twists. Used 1 1/2 sweet onion, cut in chunks; half a bag of baby carrots; no celery root or turnip; one bottle of Guinness beer, added a can of fire roasted diced tomatoes, about 1/2 cup of quick cooking barley (added the last 1/2 hour of cooking) and used some Montreal Seasonings. I didn't have fresh thyme so I used dry and added it when browning the veggies and then a bit more to the stew itself. Did use fresh rosemary at the end. I think the key is to season each layer and gradually build up the taste. Thank you so much for posting this!

Campfire Stew

Reviewed: Nov. 27, 2011
I like to add some liquid smoke to get that 'campfire' flavor memory. Just to kick it up a notch, I also cut up some potatoes into bite size pieces and let them simmer in the stew until soft. I like to serve with rolls or hot bread to sop up the juice too.

Hand Held Hashbrown Casseroles

Reviewed: Feb. 26, 2012
Very good. Added more eggs like one reviewer suggested. Added just a little bit of cheese but next time will add more. Leftovers make a quick breakfast for the rest of the week (portion controlled too!). Update: I've been making these every Sunday - gives my husband and I a great breakfast all through the week. Just use whatever veggies/cheeses/meats you have on hand. Great way to use leftovers! Add salsa or fresh chopped spinach or roasted red peppers. The options are endless! We never have them the same way twice. :)
