I live in the heart of Cajun country, where I was born. Due to my father's line of work, I've lived in every state in the US, with the exception of Alaska and Hawaii. I've been interested in cooking since I was 10. At 12 years old, I was preparing gourmet meals for my family.
My favorite things to cook
This is a difficult one. I started out baking, but would say I prefer cooking main dishes. Growing up in Cajun country, I'm well versed in authentic dishes from this region, however, living in all parts of the country, I picked up recipes from everywhere. The main thing I noticed is that most foods from places other than Louisiana, use very little seasoning, which, to me, is vital in cooking.
My favorite family cooking traditions
We have always cooked with an abundance of seafood, since it is readily available, living close to the Gulf Coast.
