Boxty

Reviewed: Mar. 17, 2010
I like this dish for simplicity of the potato flavor...mine was not too floury tasting at all. I baked a huge potato in the oven like the recipe said to, and I grated a large red potato, skin and all for some extra color. I did top mine with just a sprinkle of parmigiano-regianno cheese.

Luck o' the Irish Brownie

Reviewed: Mar. 17, 2010
These have got to be the richest, the most decadent brownies I ever tried...I couldn't cook these in a 9 x 13 pan. I'm in an RV and that size of pan will not fit in my oven, so I baked in a 9 x 9 pan instead...I think I'll wait to make these again when I have a regular sized oven because they were so thick and chocolatey and rich...I should have cut them into 1-inch squares rather than regular brownie size pieces. I imagine I wouldn't need a quart of milk if they were a little thinner..I gave this recipe 4 stars because it is incredibly sweet..I only used 3 cups of confectioner's sugar in the green frosting and I really think that was too sweet, I couldn't imagine using the full 4 cups (by-the-way, I burned my hand mixer up making this recipe...LOL!). I think the next time I make these, I would probably cut the confectioner's sugar down even more! These are super delicious...time consuming, but totally worth the effort...thanks for a great recipe!

Guinness® Bread

Reviewed: Mar. 17, 2010
I have had really good beer bread...but this tops them all and what's even better is that this recipe was so easy I had no problem, whatsoever, following it. I did use quick-cooking steel cut Irish oats in mine and I really like the rustic texture they gave this bread. This bread is sweet, it's savory...altogether delicious...thanks for a great recipe!

Clam Dip a la Fabius

Reviewed: Mar. 13, 2010
I don't know if it was missing anything or not, I barely got to try it! My husband scarfed it down in nothing flat!! I was able to incorporate most of the clam juice into the cream cheese (nuefatchel) and it was super good...better than stuff from the store, brand names will not be mentioned, and a sight healthier, as well. Thanks!

Bob's Thai Beef Salad

Reviewed: Mar. 8, 2010
This is an amazing salad. I did read the reviews and I thought that 1 cup of fish sauce would be way too much, so I only used 1 cup. I also added tomatoes and chopped cilantro. I used a couple of serrano chiles so my husband would be able to tolerate this heat wise. I'll be making this recipe again, thanks!

Honey Baked Chicken II

Reviewed: Mar. 5, 2010
This is a really easy and really delicious chicken recipe that I will make again. I used dijon mustard and I also added 1 teaspoon of rooster sauce (sriracha) and when my husband asks if I'll make this again, rest assured, it is a superb recipe!

Ukrainian Apple Cake (Yabluchnyk)

Reviewed: Feb. 24, 2010
This was a very good, very rich recipe. I am really amazed at how little work it takes to actually make this. I made it with Red Delicious apples but I think the next time I make it, I'll use granny smith. Thanks for a great recipe.

Ukraine Baked Potato Salad

Reviewed: Feb. 24, 2010
Suprisingly, this was a very good dish. I really didn't know what to expect after reading the reviews, but I halved the recipe and was pleasantly suprised. It probably could have used more egg, in my opinion, but it is very good as is. For more details, please refer to my blog about Russian food! Thanks for a great recipe.

Chicken Kiev

Reviewed: Feb. 24, 2010
this is the first time that I ever made this dish, I diidn't fry it, I drizzled with olive oil and baked it at moderate heat for about 25 minutes. It's very good and not at all greasy like I thought it would be. I used a mixture of Italian bread crumbs and panko crumbs and so it was really crispy. Thanks for a great recipe. I would have rated this 5 stars, but never having it beofre, I had nothing to compare it to.

Korean Cucumber Salad

Reviewed: Feb. 19, 2010
I would have rated this with more stars except I think that this recipe would be 5 stars if one were to use rice wine vinegar rather than just plain white...that's the only thing I would change.

Cuban Banana Casserole

Oh, I wish I had some 'nilla ice cream when I made this! It's super easy and super good and if you don't make it and put it over vanilla ice cream, you're missing out on a big treat and I don't care for bananas!

Cuban Beans and Rice

Reviewed: Feb. 3, 2010
I've always skipped over recipes with tomato paste in them because I just don't care for the taste of it. I'm not a overly huge fan of beans and rice together, either. I was pleasantly suprised with the taste of this dish...it was actually quite tasty and super easy to make!
