Tropical Pork Chops

Reviewed: Feb. 5, 2008
This recipe tasted much different than the "tropical" flavor i thought it would have but was still very tasty. It was more a tangy flavor. All i did in the way of changes was i added a tsp more sugar and about 1/2 water 1/2 pineapple juice when simmering. Otherwise it turned out excellent. Also i used 1/2 c pineapples and that was everyones favorite part. I served over rice w/ corn. will make again.

Herb Roasted Pork

Reviewed: Oct. 18, 2007
So this was the first time i have ever made a pork roast and it turned out amazing. But i did make a few minor changes. First i used a 2lb roast. I doubled the sage (wish i would have tripled)and doubled the sauce. I also added about 2 tbls of minced garlic to the sauce as well. I cut slits in the meat and put garlic in. I rubbed sage on and let sit in the fridge for about an hour. Then i cooked it at 325 for an hour in a 9 X 13 pan covered in tinfoil. then i took off foil and basted every 10 minutes for another 40 minutes. Turned out EXCELLENT. Even had extra sauce for dipping. I highly recommend it.

Brooke's Best Bombshell Brownies

Reviewed: Nov. 28, 2008
Followed recipe to the T. I found these brownies to be more like cake. My husband (who is in the army and eats everything) didn't even finnish one.

Chocolate Cornstarch Pudding

Reviewed: Nov. 8, 2007
I followed recipe exactly. I didn't like this at all. The flavor was bland and when i put it in the fridge it got a thick, rubber film on it.

Banana Berry Smoothie II

Reviewed: Oct. 20, 2007
This recipe was very good, but not WONDERFUL. I (like most raters) changed a bit. I used 1/2 cup milk, 1/2 cup plain yogart,1 tbls honey, 1 cup frozen strawberries and one small banana.

Traditional Mashed Potatoes

Reviewed: Oct. 16, 2007
This is an EXCELLENT, easy recipe for mashed potatoes. I changed a few things though. I added about 2-3 times the amount of milk and added 1/4 cup creamcheese (warmed up) and that made it SO creamy. Also if you add a teaspoon of baking soda it makes them creamier.

Cranberry Swirl Coffee Cake

Reviewed: Nov. 30, 2008
This was good, but nothing great. It was more of a regular cake to me than a coffee cake. I did make a few alterations. I ran out of sour cream, so did 1/2 c sour cream, 1/2 c yogart. Worked good. I also added a sugar crumble on top (a MUST have) that another reviewer suggested.

Italian Spaghetti Sauce with Meatballs

Reviewed: Feb. 7, 2008
I was so dissapointed in this recipe concidering its RAVE reviews. My husband who eats anything would not eat anything but the meatballs. The sauce was SO bland like we squeezed tomatoes on our pasta. the meatballs were nothing great either. Concidering it took 2 hours to make i will definately not make again...

Barbecue Ribs

Reviewed: Oct. 16, 2007
So i took the advice of many of the other reviewers and changed quite a bit in this recipe. I only used 1/4 cup brown sugar, 1 cup BBQ sauce, 2 teaspoons minced garlic, 3 teaspoons chili powder, and 1/4 cup rum. It turned out EXCELLENT. My husband LOVED it, he thought i bought it pre-seasoned. haha. Now i also cooked it differently because i am not very good on the grill. I cut the ribs into portion sized sections and layed them out on foil. I then took 1/4 cup applesauce and covered them. I double wrapped them in tin foil and put in the oven at 250 F for 2 1/2 hours. Then i took out, marinated for an hour and put back in for 30 minutes (marinateding again 1/2 way through). they turned out VERY tender and delicious!!

Baked Brunch Omelet

Reviewed: Nov. 30, 2008
This recipe is a good base recipe. I cut it in 1/2 (except the cheese and ham) and cooked in a 9x9 pan. I thought it was good, but very bland. It needs some playing with to make it great. I took reviewers advice and let seep over night. Otherwise kept everything the same.

Chicken Pot Pie IX

Reviewed: Nov. 12, 2007
Wow this recipe was wonderful! I only made a few small changes. I doubled the sauce (but wished i had trippled it), added a few small potatoes, some corn, and cooked it in a 9X13 pan (so it needs 3 pie crusts). It turned out WONDERFUL. The only reason i wish i had trippled the sauce was because fresh it was WONDERUFL but the next day for leftovers it was very dry.

Downeast Maine Pumpkin Bread

Reviewed: Nov. 12, 2007
I was sadly disappointed with this since it had such GREAT reviews. The only thing i changed was i used 1 C brown sugar 1 C white sugar instead of 3 C white sugar. I ate one piece and honestly the rest sat on my counter for a week before being thrown out. Maybe I am just too used to the family recipe, but i wont make this again.

Garlic Green Beans

Reviewed: Oct. 24, 2007
I was excited to try this due to the rave review, but it was NOT good. I think my 3 stars might even be nice. The beans were VERY greasy (and i even cut the butter/grease in HALF) and over all they were just yucky. Even my husband who eats almost anything hardly nibbled these.

Chicken Cordon Bleu II

Reviewed: Oct. 24, 2007
The only reason i even gave it 4 stars was because my husband gave it 5, while i only think its about a 3. The chicken its self was good, but the sauce in my opinion was not good. Maybe it was my selection of wine, but i did not change a thing. I probally would not make this again, but who knows.

Easy Meatloaf

Reviewed: Oct. 16, 2007
I followed the recipe almost to the T but i did take the advice of some other reviewers. I added about 1 Tablespoon of worcestershire sauce and doubled the sauce topping. I also used itailian chicken stuffing instead of bread crumbs and it was excellent! While my husband and i really liked it, i felt it was missing something. I will experiment more next time.
