Chinese Steamed Buns

Reviewed: Jan. 11, 2008
I've had many failures trying to make steamed buns and this was my first time I had success. Hooray, great recipe! I followed the recipe closely but ended up using 1/2 cup more flour when kneading b/c it was too sticky. I found that after 2 hours, my dough stopped rising. I put my dough in the oven at a warm temp and allowed it to rise. I used quickrise yeast. Very happy with the delicious fluffy result!

Too Much Chocolate Cake

Reviewed: Mar. 1, 2013
To all Canadian bakers out there. If you find your batter is too wet or too oily, take a look at the weight of your cake mix package. Most cake mix boxes in Canada are sold in 432 grams packages and not like the United States where it's 18.25 ounce, which is equivalent to 517 grams.

Fluffy Pancakes

Reviewed: Jul. 31, 2012
Better than Aunt Jemima's pancake mix. If you have the time for the prep work, these pancakes are fluffy and just right. I added fresh blueberries.

Zucchini Bread IV

Reviewed: Aug. 13, 2008
Make sure to squeeze out all the water in the zucchini. I don't like my bread too sweet so I used 1 1/2 cup of sugar and it turned out great.

Bread and Celery Stuffing

Reviewed: Dec. 31, 2007
It was my first time making stuffing and it turned out great. I used 1- 60% whole wheat baguette and 6 slices of white Wonder bread. I cut up the bread and toasted it in the oven until dry. I used more than 1 cup of broth and continued to check the stuffing in the oven for moisture, adding broth as needed. I also added mushrooms into the sautee. Great recipe, just as good/or better than packaged stuffing mix.

Butter Flaky Pie Crust

Reviewed: Aug. 14, 2008
Salty! Maybe I should have used unsalted butter and omitted the salt in the recipe. Good crust, but not that suitable for my apple pie. I think it would be great for a meat pot pie.

Apple Pie by Grandma Ople

Reviewed: Feb. 10, 2008
Amazing! It worked well with the apples from our backyard which were quite tart and took forever to core and peel. I made 3 pies and gave them to friends, everybody had compliments!

Amish Bread

Reviewed: May 30, 2010
I tried this recipe as well as the "best bread machine" recipe using my Black & Decker bread machine, program 4 for sandwich, 2lb. The bread for this recipe turned out to be better, it was not as crusty and it was not dry by the next day. With both breads, I placed them in a ziploc bag for storage. I'm still trying to perfect the recipe to my bread machine, I think I need to reduce the time, the crust was too thick for my liking. However, I'm going to stick with this Amish bread, because of its texture and I like how it is a tad sweeter then the other recipe and uses less yeast.

Orange Chiffon Cake

Reviewed: Oct. 6, 2009
Turned out moist and fluffy, I agree with substituting OJ for the water, like the others stated. My cake needed more orange flavour. I've tasted even fluffier chiffon so I'm going to try and experiment with ratio of egg whites to batter. But overall, the cake was good.

Taste good like Family Pizza crust, very easy to make. Not like Pizza Hut crust though, this crust is not greasy.

Newport Clam Chowder

Reviewed: Jan. 11, 2008
Very rich and creamy. I added whole milk instead of half and half cream to reduce fat content. Also added some frozen corn. Turned out wonderful, like the clam chowder I had in San Francisco.

Grandma Ople's Apple Pie

Reviewed: Oct. 12, 2007
Best apple pie I've tasted and wonderful compliments from family and friends. I reduced the amount of sugar to 1/2 and it still tasted great.
