Chef John's Chicken Marsala

Reviewed: Nov. 3, 2014
Very easy and very tasty! My supermarket didn't have shallots, so I used a yellow onion, cut very finely. I used dry marsala wine, I tried a bit before pouring it, and it was quite strong! I was concerned about serving the meal to my kids, but after I reduced the sauce, the alcohol burned off.

Pumpkin Ravioli with Hazelnut Cream Sauce

Reviewed: Sep. 20, 2014
The filling of the ravioli was good, but I did not like the creamy sauce. It was too runny. Also my family didn't care for it too much since it was somewhat sweet.

Caramelized Butternut Squash Soup

Reviewed: Jul. 5, 2014
Excellent recipe! I substituted the cream with almond milk due to food allergies and it was great! I also added a pinch of cinammon.

Rustic Tuscan Soup with Kale

Reviewed: May 13, 2013
The soup was very good, and a great way to eat the kale that I got from the CSA. I made some changes because I did not have some of the ingredients at home and the soup still turned out well, although it would have been probably better if I had had bacon and parmesan. Basically, my version did not use bacon, and instead of parmesan cheese, it used cheddar.

Excellent! I added steel cut oatmeal instead of nuts, and it was crispy and just delicious!

Gingerbread Boys

Reviewed: Dec. 13, 2012
Excellent! The best Gingerbread I have tasted, since it not very gingerbready, instead it is sweeter. My kids loved them.

Scones

Reviewed: Sep. 3, 2012
Amazing! Moist, sweet and extremely easy to make! I also made a few changes: 3/4 cup of sugar instead of 1/2 cup and instead of using a rolling pin, I rolled them with my hands into small flat balls and baked them (Since I could not find my rolling pin!) Still they turned out excellent! The best recipe for scones that I have tried.

Chilean Empanada

Reviewed: Apr. 29, 2012
Excellent empanadas! I have never eaten Chilean empanadas besides this ones, but the dough of this empanada was very similar to the ones I have eaten in Argentina. My filling was a bit different: bell pepper onion, ground turkey (instead of beef or pork) with the rest of the spices. The empanadas turned out excellent! It can be used as a great base for other meat empanadas! Thank you for sharing this recipe!

Creamy Broccoli Soup

Reviewed: Feb. 19, 2012
Great soup and very easy to make! Instead of cheddar I used Dubliner Irish cheese (about half of what the recipe called for) and the soup was delicious! I also added a bit of garlic and one stalk of celery like other reviewes mentioned.

Best Big, Fat, Chewy Chocolate Chip Cookie

Reviewed: Feb. 19, 2012
Excellent taste! Buttery and delicious. I also used hersheys chocolate (broke it in chunks) instead of chocoloate chips and the cookies were amazing. Thanks for a great recipe!

Chicken Pot Pie IX

Reviewed: Nov. 27, 2011
The filling for the pot pie tasted very good, although I agree with the other reviewers that describe the pot pie as a bit dry, I would also recommend adding more milk. I also added fresh mushrooms to my pot pie and it turned out very well.

Turkey Carcass Soup

Reviewed: Nov. 27, 2011
It was a delicious soup, but the name of the recipe (carcass...) almost put me off! The soup should instead be called "Delish Turkey soup". I made a minor change: used half of the potatoes and added instead 1 cup of fresh green beans.
