About this Cook
I am a new mommy who works 40 + hours/week! I need recipes that are quick and simple so I am always looking for ways to simplify life. I feel that is how my recipes are reflected as well.
My favorite things to cook
I love messing with ingredients and creating something completely accidentally! Casseroles are the best to do this with. I also LOVE Christmas and am constantly creating new treats for the holidays.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My mom's family is from the Czech Republic so I love having breads made from Czechoslovakia! (Especially kolaches!) I truly enjoy baking because of this as well!
My cooking triumphs
My triumphs are always accidents! I make a KILLER caramel sauce for ice cream because my caramel didn't turn out! I needed to get rid of a carton of eggnog so I created fudge that turned out AMAZING!
My cooking tragedies
Divinity is the DEVIL! I have tried it several times and it just doesn't set up correctly... once my friend and I even put it in the freezer to try to set it and an hour later- we opened up a divinty covered freezer! WHAT A MESS!!

Creamy Eggnog Fudge
After doing this several times for many years now- depending on the pan you are using to boil- you may need to stir constantly AND if you don't have a candy thermometer you should let the butter and nog and sugar come to a rolling boil and then boil 5 more minutes and then add the marsh. cream and chocolate and other yummy stuff! Sorry for those who may have had a bit of trouble!

Buckeyes I
This recipe has WAY WAY WAY too much powdered sugar! 4 cups would easily do the tricky. If you use 6, they get really dry and crumbly and do not set at all.

Creamy Frosting
I did not care for this. The texture was fine and I didn't have any issues with sugar being grainy or the frosting being lumpy... but it tasted like sweet lard! I really felt like when I licked the spoon I was licking sweetened Crisco! It was extremely thick and personally- in-eatable!
