The Best Bacon-Tomato Dip

Reviewed: May 2, 2008
I made this as a quick after school snack for the kids. I used onion powder in place of the chopped onions and added 1 teaspoon of dried ranch dressing mix. I served with crackers, tortilla chips, carrots and celery. It was a hit!

Taco Salad II

Reviewed: May 2, 2008
I haven't had this dish in a long time and can't remember why! It's easy, a bit time consuming chopping veggies but very tasty. I followed the recipe except instead of putting raw onions in the salad I sauted in pan with meat mixture. I used the Taco Seasoning Mix recipe from this site in this recipe. My family loves ranch dressing so I used the No Mayo Ranch Dressing recipe to top the salad. Finally used a 10" tortilla to make a taco bowl. Sprayed a small glass pyrex bowl with a cooking spray and draped the tortilla over it and baked at 375 for 9 minutes. Nice presentation!

Strawberry-Banana-Peanut Butter Smoothie

Reviewed: May 2, 2008
If you like peanut butter you'll like this smoothie! I used 1 heaping tablesoon of "natural" peanut butter, 1 teaspoon of organic agave

No-Mayonnaise Ranch Dressing

Reviewed: May 2, 2008
I followed the recipe as stated except for the dried chives (couldn't find them in the grocery store). We used this on top of Taco Salad II cause my family loves "ranch" type dressing on everything. I liked the fact it didn't have the mayo. The family really liked it.

Mrs. Sigg's Snickerdoodles

Reviewed: May 1, 2008
I give these a 4, but the family gives them a 5! I read many of the reviews but followed the recipe as stated. My cookies didn't spread at all and looking at some of the photos they look flatter than mine. I will make them again cause hubby likes the "plain-type" cookies.

Poppy Seed Dressing II

Reviewed: May 1, 2008
Very sweet but good. I did cut back slightly on the sugar but it still tasted grainy. I was concerned the grated onion would over power this so I tried onion powder instead. Next time I will try using a sweet onion.

Ricotta Cookies III

Reviewed: May 1, 2008
Another WINNER! My kids couldn't stop eating these! My daughter even did the glaze and sprinkles. Light, delicate and best with the glaze since the cookie isn't real sweet.

Super-Delicious Zuppa Toscana

Reviewed: May 1, 2008
LOVE this soup! I used sage sausage and cut back on the red pepper flakes. Hubby's allergies were getting the best of him so he even ate a bowl (and he's not a soup eater)!

Quick and Easy Sauteed Spinach

Reviewed: May 1, 2008
Very GOOD! Easy, quick and healthy! I had to use the "green jarred" parmaesan cheese and it was good, but for sure next time I will use freshly grated parmesan. I served this with Braised Balsamic Chicken recipe. Will make again.

Braised Balsamic Chicken

Reviewed: May 1, 2008
AWESOME! This was so quick, easy and tasty. I followed the recipe with a few minor changes, used chicken tenders (shorter cooking time) and added 1 teaspoon of brown sugar to caramelize the onions. I served this over Easy Sauteed Spinach recipe. I will DEFINITELY make this again. My new favorite chicken recipe!

Strawberries in Spiced Syrup

Reviewed: Apr. 30, 2008
Quick and easy to prepare. I will cut back on the sugar as we thought it was very sweet using fresh picked berries. Served with french vanilla ice cream and crushed graham crackers.

Strawberry Soup II

Reviewed: Apr. 30, 2008
Absolutely DELICIOUS!!!! This is a great dessert soup which has good flavor with the cinnamon and nutmeg added. My only change was to half the recipe to 6 servings. I did cut back on the sugar slightly. I didn't have mint available so I served this with the Strawberry Bread recipe (also very good) cut up in cubes. This is a rather thin sauce like soup which kind of looks like melted strawberry ice cream and would be great on a hot summer day!

Supreme Strawberry Topping

Reviewed: Apr. 29, 2008
Very good but very SWEET! Next time I will cut back on the sugar (it was grainy) or try powdered. I will probably make more chopped strawberries.

Mini Cheesecakes III

Reviewed: Apr. 29, 2008
AWESOME!! I doubled the recipe to get 12 jumbo sized cheesecakes. I did up the graham cracker bottoms for a thicker crust. I used some gold foil lined cup cake holders and some in paper liners. The foil lined was easier to peel away from the cheesecakes. Several of mine cracked on the top but covered with the delicious Strawberry Supreme Topping and crushed graham crackers. Will definitely put this in my dessert rotation.

Mixture for Meatballs, Meatloaf or Burgers

Reviewed: Apr. 29, 2008
I wanted to like this recipe for meatballs but felt they were dry. I followed the recipe except for subbing a small amount of sausage in place of the ground beef plus added a dash of italian seasonings and 1 clove of crushed garlic. I also browned mine slightly in a olive oil then cooked in sauce. Mine did NOT cook in 15 - 20 minutes in sauce, more like 1 1/4 hours on low heat as not to burn the sauce or meat. I will try this mixture for burgers next.

Marinara Sauce I

Reviewed: Apr. 29, 2008
I used concentrated crushed tomatoes for a smoother sauce in this recipe. I added a small amount of sauteed garlic and italian seasonings. It still was a little bland to me. I will continue to try the other marinara recipes on this site for "the one".

Chicken Salad with Bacon, Lettuce, and Tomato

Reviewed: Apr. 29, 2008
I was very impressed with this! I cooked my bacon in the microwave and used leftover grilled chicken. I didn't use the avacado (didnt have). Make sure to chill this to get the best flavors. I sprinkled with onion powder and paprika. I will make this again.

Quick and Easy Fruit Dip

Reviewed: Apr. 28, 2008
I halved this recipe and added a few drops of pure almond extract. To make a deeper orange colored dip I mixed red and yellow food coloring. My hubby liked this dip the best of the three I tried. We served with fresh strawberries and bananas.

I halved this recipe and cut back on the brown sugar a bit. My kids really like this but I prefer the dips with marshmallow creme.

Easy Fruit Dip

Reviewed: Apr. 28, 2008
DELISH! I tried 3 different fruit dips and this was the favorite. I did add a few drops of red food coloring to make a nice pink color. It is very sweet. We ate it room temperature and after it was in the fridge. I think I like it better cold but either way its very good with fresh fruit and/or pound cake.
